Very good and informative documentary on how we suck at keeping the earth healthy and how greedy people are. Privatizing of water is so ****ing wrong and it's happening all over the place. This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

Another good documentary about The Weather Underground. I actually haven't heard of their organization until now but it must have been pretty tense living in the sixties and seventies. Well done doc.

I knew this had a cult following but I just didn't get it. I didn't like it very much. Michael Rooker was pretty good but it just seemed flat to me.

I loved the beginning of this movie. The ending just took a nosedive into average. It was really disappointing. Most of the action scenes were silly but the Chemical Brothers doing the soundtrack was pretty awesome. It was just such a let down to have the second half of the film suck because the beginning was really impressive.

I need to watch this again. I didn't get the storyline, mostly cause I watched this on multiple viewings, but the action scenes and music were fantastic, especially for such a low budget film.

I thought it was decent if anything. I agree with the Michael Rooker thing, he did a pretty decent job.

If you want a pretty good movie on him, you should check out Drifter: Henry Lee Lucas. That one did a solid job on his story and the movie is fascinating.

Roger Dodger (2002)

Very interesting film about one-night stands and the player/ pick-up culture before people like Mystery turned it into a (bigger) joke. Basically the story follows a man in his late mid 30's as he tries to teach his 16-year old nephew how to talk to women, with the goal of having him lose his virginity at the end of the night. While his attempts fail, the titular Roger learns more about himself and how his lifestyle is more to be blamed for his cynicism and frustration.

Depending on your perspective, you may like or dislike the camera work used in this film. It's done in a kind of documentary style without much use of a tripod and scenes that are filmed across the street from where the actors are. There's also a heavy influence of silhouettes, and when combined with an early '00's New York City (pre-9/11 too I think), gives off this really cool neo-noir feel. Both the acting and the writing is solid, starting off with a very Reservoir Dogs-y dialog heavy opening scene.

What I liked so much about the film was the attention to detail in the little nuances of people, women in particular, exhibit while out at bars. Just little details like the sharing of lip gloss, running of the fingers around the brim of the glass, quick glances at one an other, etc. I have a pretty keen sense of perception so when I'm out with friends and strangers, I pick up on these little things, and it was quite nice to see the movie make use of them, it really helped the film feel alive and genuine, while still retaining a certain sense of idealistic fantasy.

I hope that picture doesn't get me in trouble. This was a lot better than Herzog's adaption. I don't know what it is about Harvey Keitel, but the man plays weirdos and psychos really well. I love that thing he does when his soul hurts. You know that moaning? Love it. Great film.

Nobody better than Bogart during the 40s and 50s. Hepburn has always annoyed me on screen. I just can't take the way she talks but she's an amazing actress. This film was better than I expected with some great dialogue between two legends of the screen.

I almost...just almost...liked this better than The Matrix. Sure it really didn't have much to do with the series, but the two just seem very similar in style. Bale is a great action hero that needs to be in these sort of roles more often. It totally blew me by surprise.

I never read the book so I had a hard time following this. I love Lynch (obviously), but this kind of disappointed me. There were some good sequences and it seemed to get better as it got towards the end but as a whole it was too sporadic to keep to the story, which a film like this needs to do.
