Interesting, comprehensive look at the (very, very brief and simplified) origins of Christianity and the sources of it's texts. To an extent it lacks the scholarly depth I was hoping for, I think it's trying to be contemporary and "fun" to make the documentary accessible/interesting/not boring to the general public, but no matter how they're presented the facts are still there.

It's worth a watch if you're interested in the subject matter. I probably won't watch it again but for a random religious documentary available through Netflix's instant streaming it hold's it's own. I'd also suggest "For the Bible Tells Me So," a fantastic doc on homosexuality and the bible.

Being in the film thread, I watched The Big Dirty again this week. Makes me want to pull a Big Dirty. They've got a big ol machine like that at the mall, but I think it's a lot riskier than the movie theater they did it at, because this one is centrally located.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006)

This film was so close to becoming a Canadian classic. It started off so well and just kept building from there, but holy crap did it drop it in the 3rd act. Humour gave out to more slapstick and the big baddie reveal was really underwhelming, you're left thinking "who is this guy and why should I care?" It would really be nice to see a Canadian film that doesn't revolve around hockey as the framing device, but when hockey players are on your 5 dollar bill I suppose it's hard to shake away. I was also right to be a little weary of how many of the jokes I would understand given where I grew up in Canada, as it's very much Ontario/ Quebec humour. Still, seeing Rick Mercer as a kind of hybrid between Don Cherry and Glenn Beck was pretty funny. Overall the film had a lot of good moments to it and it's not often I get to see 100% Canadian films so I give them a modicum of leniency to begin with and Bon Cop, Bad Cop is no different. Good for a watch if you're from that part of the world, but if not I can't see you getting much out of it but an average buddy-cop movie.

There is only one Canadian classic - Grizzly Rage! I only saw a part, a couple of years ago and still can't get it out of my head, it's this ... let's say, memorable.
Anyway, as ya'll probably know the 3d Titanic is coming, if it's anything like this tumblr makes it to be, I might actually go and see it for the lulz
