Looks like I'm going to have to go see Cabin in the Woods. The trailers made it look bland to me, but it looks like I was wrong.

Oh man, go to IMDB page on it and look at the FAQ and see all the monsters in the movie.... it is an all-star cast of monsters.

Looks generic, but reading the plot and seeing all the monsters shows it is a lot more.

One of my friends played 3 monsters in the movie as well. I will see it just for his performances, haha.

in his own words:

Quote:
I played a zombie in an elevator with a bunch of other zombies,
a mutant who jumps out of a doorway after some hot actress (maybe the one you mentioned??) and an acolyte/ sidekick to this "pinhead" like character who has saw blades coming out of his head. but hey I wouldn't be surprised if they cut everything that I'm in out of the movie! lol it happens:/
his IMDB page. Hasn;t been in many films, but yeah. This one is not listed, probably cause he was considered an extra more less.

Wow. Okay...well, wow.

Great metacritic score. Great imdb score. Great Rotten Tomatoes score. You guys hyped it up. This movie STILL exceeded my expectations. Just wow.

I'm going to have to see it again, not only because of my extreme desire to see it again, but also because the audience sucked. Most of them didn't like it and were making comments through the entire film and one couple actually talked through the entire movie. It was like they were planning a vacation back there. I couldn't believe it. They turned out to be 50 year adults. So shameful. Usually I'm an OCD lunatic with movies. I have to be there at least twenty minutes early so I get a good seat and whenever people are talking like that I make it a point to shut them up any way I can. It helps that I'm a projectionist and can just film my own screenings but when I do go out, I need silence. I felt very outnumbered in this one though so I decided it would be best to keep quiet instead of starting a fight. So yeah, second viewing will be happening.

There isn't a whole lot to say without giving the film away and without repeating what some of you gents have already said but I'll try some brief bullet observations and musings.
  • Pace was perfect. I wasn't bored once. The movie took maybe ten minutes to get going and it didn't let up once it did,
  • It was very funny. Richard Jenkins and (Guy from Billy Madison) were perfectly cast and I actually found myself rooting for them when they were on screen. Also one of the best stoner characters to come out in the last decade.
  • It was still a horror film. The movie may have broken boundaries, but the horror factor was still there and done very well without feeling like a re hashed pile of crap.
  • The last 40 minutes were some of the most fun I've had watching a movie ever. I can't wait to take my friends who haven't seen it yet and watch their reactions. One word. ELEVATORS.

Like I said it far exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see it again and urge everybody to go see this movie. It's just a fun movie you can't miss.

10/10
