What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

Mondo Cane kinda sucks, rest are decent.

Tried watching Mondo Cane, hearing it was the spark for all exploitation films that came out after it, and sure as the first it was controversial, but been bettered since. I found myself bored and skipping though 90% of it just to find anything that would be as shocking as they claimed. Apart from the opening sequence, and a few scattered moments.

There isn't a ton of criteria for what I'm watching. A lot of it is recommendations for movie fluent friends and occasionally Netflix. Mostly, my goal by the end of their list is to watch many different kinds of movies as possible. I want to find out more about my taste in movies and have a better background of movies.

I think I have 3-4 silent movies on the list so far and plan on 3-4 more. I'm not a huge fan of anime, but I watched Akira last year and I really liked it. So far, I've only watched Spirited Away; but Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue and Paprika in the wings so far.

I must be one of the few people around to not liking The Shining. I appreciate it's technical bravado (I am a film fan after all, would be ignorant of me not to notice how well it's made) but I just find it cold and unsatisfying but I find that with most of Kubrick's work. Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange don't do anything for me either. 2001 though is bloody brilliant and suits his style perfectly. Spartacus doesn't count as he didn't make all of the film even though it's a great film.

Nicholas Winding Refn so far has a perfect track record with me. Bronson and Valhalla Rising are both amazing movies and Drive is one of my favorite movies ever.

I didn't think a ton of Bronson, but I loved Pusher and Drive (I thought the Pusher sequels were slightly above average). I've had Valhalla sitting on my HDD for months...

Valhalla Rising is a lot closer to Drive than Bronson, if that gives you any motivation to watch it.

I usually hate M. Night Shyamalan but I had heard good things about this movie and I was in the mood for a superhero film. I really enjoyed it. Great performances from Willis and Jackson, and a twist ending that genuinely surprised me. I'd say this is his best movie.

Unbreakable is such a subtle film and all the more better for it. If it was a Euro film it would be talked about a whole lot more

Nothing is forced in the movie and everything is downplayed in every act. A damn good film.

The last movie I saw, not by choice, was Howard The Duck. My boyfriend thought it was crazy it seems that I had never heard of such a thing and so he got the movie from Netflix. I really could have done without it!
