I do not know. I liked it as a cheap b-movie. It is not the perfect movie, and you are right, Ramones are the best part. But yeah, I still thought it was passable.

I just saw The Cabin in the Woods yesterday.

Fun movie, very over the top with zero believability. I liked that it shows love for the horror genre while still playfully using its obviously very tired clichès. It was too crazy to be scary, but it still made my wife jump a few times. If I watch it again, I'll try to count the number of obvious references to other horror movies I can find.

I love just about everything about A Boy and His Dog. I only first saw it in... 2008 I'd say, but it jumped near the top of my favorites list.

Don Johnson does well, too, but the dog is the ticket to enjoying the movie. Plus all the post-apocalyptic scenery and way of life.

The ending cracks me up.

Prince of Darkness (1987)

Slowly but surely my John Carpenter collection is coming to a close, although I will have to say this is probably my least favourite one (keep in mind I have yet to see his 1998 film Vampires.) The premise was pretty interesting, and Donald Pleasence put on a great performance, but I just didn't really end up caring about any of the characters, they all just seemed to be setups to some bad punchline. It's on Instant Netflix so if you're a John Carpenter fan and this movie is a hole in your filmography then I suppose I'd recommend it, or you could just rewatch The Thing or In the Mouth of Madness

I mean I loved the premise, and even the execution was pretty good, but I dunno, I just didn't like it the way I liked The Thing, Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, or any of his other big horror/ thriller movies. I mean even the dodgiest John Carpenter movie is still a step above most of the crap that comes out and it was kind of fun to see some of the same actors from Big Trouble in Little China playing in a horror movie, and the change up of the usual teenage slasher victims to scientists. Also in regards to your question, I thought the homeless guy looked a lot like Alice Cooper, but that it was just a coincidence, it wasn't until I looked up the film's Wiki the next day that I learned it actually was him.

Just saw Prometheus. It sucked. It deliberately set itself up for a sequel so there was no conclusion, hence the ending sucked utter cock. Even if the ending was decent, the ride was mediocre anyway.

I was planning to see it this afternoon but certain things got in the way today but reviews have been mixed to say the least.

Onto what I have seen:

Performances were superb all round. I haven't seen Tom Hardy put in a bad performance yet and certain scenes with Nick Nolte were heartbreaking but despite the sincerity it's Rocky with whistles on and I would have loved to see much more of the father/son dynamic that was just getting interesting but the film decided to jump straight to the main event as it were. The Wrestler (clearly an inspiration) is far superior.

The subtle humour in this film was well written and the effects were damn good but everything was telegraphed in the first 15 minutes and it all felt a little predictable. Definitely worth a watch but a prequel would be much more interesting regarding the troll's than a film that practically describes the finale in it's opening credits.
