wow....have you seen Alien?.....am i the only person on earth that cares more about what that ship was doing there and what that creature with its chest burst out was?....and i am honestly 100% glad to hear that it has no conclusion....this is exactly what i wanted!!!!.....i was hoping that this film would lead to an obvious sequel would explain what the Alien is.....i cannot wait to see this movie

Yeah, I've seen all the Alien films and I'm a big fan of them all (except Resurrection). I don't think you'll ever find out where the Xenomorphs came from because it's typical of the horror genre not to give away secrets like that. It leaves less up to your imagination, and your imagination is what horror plays on. Besides, they've had decades to explain it, so I don't think they want to.

Old french short from the 50s. I tried not to read to far into it because it seemed like one of those movies you just sit back and smile with. T'is addorbz.

It was a little dated, the dialogue could've been better and there were weak moments but it still held my attention and kept me maybe 75% interested. It's about redemption. A criminal is selected for an experimental drug meant to deter violent behavior but his past catches up with him. Few twists here and there, kinda predictable except the last one. Ray's acting was stellar.

They coulda cut the first 30 minutes and it woulda been fine. I was expecting more considering the reviews, especially with the car stunts. The soundtrack was terrible modern 80s synthpop dribble. I ****ing hated the soundtrack. There's a cool scene were a dude gets his head stomped to puddin'. Another dude gets his throat stuck a few times over with a kitchen knife. Other than that, major disappointment. One of those movies that has you wondering if it's a ploy with enough violence to get halfwit dudes in and enough dreamy pretty boy bs to keep the girls interested. To be fare, Carey Mulligan was the only part keeping me interested but she was much better in Never Let Me Go.

Cryptic and eerie. And very imaginative. Kinda slow, not much action and not very eventful. Based on a book I haven't read. People are grown for their organs and are harvested once they reach a certain age. A love triangle, one third unrequited. Good watch.

The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Originally my friend and I were going to watch my newly purchased copy of Seven Samurai, but it was late and he had to be up for work at 8 am and the movie is long so we settled on this instead. It's a Westernized version of the aforementioned film and it made me come to one sad realization about myself and to a lesser extent the state of movies today, that we're all cynical bastards. Throughout the movie I kept on catching myself thinking "oh jeez, this is soooo corny, there's guys are just absolute pillars of virtue" because that's what they are. I mean sure they do technically kill people, but at the end of the day, 5 out of the 7 mercenaries are just good guys, badasses of iconic stature, but good guys none the less. I kind of felt ashamed of myself for originally thinking that was corny, I mean is it totally realistic? Not really, but it's really enjoyable to watch and just makes you smile, and when it comes to escapism that's a major plus. This is definitely one of those classics that just stands the test of time, definitely see it if you haven't already.

The last couple of days, I saw these films.

The Raid: Redemption

An indonesian "swat" member finds himself pretty much stranded in a building full of criminals trying to kill him. Alright, that was pretty inaccurate, but it still should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. It may sound a little bit like Die Hard, but it's slummier, more brutal and focuses more on action scenes. It's pretty much non-stop gun fights / fist fights from the movie gets started until the end. There's some serious martial arts talents involved here and the fight scenes were very well choreographed and a lot of fun to watch.

Quite entertaining and I'd recommend it to anyone who feel they need an action fix.

Moonrise Kingdom

Brilliant movie, just beautiful and engaging .. and so Wes Anderon! This movie focuses on a love story between 12 year old Sam and Suzy who are determined to spend the rest of their lives together. It was very funny, romantic, engaging, sometimes magical and it's just a potent mix of everything I like about Wes Anderson's films. It's like it all takes place in an alternative reality much like our own world, but not quite. As you'd expect, the casting is superb and every character is interesting to watch and you find yourself caring for basically all of them.

One of Wes Andersons best, if not the best. At least I liked it more than The Royal Tenenbaums. Fans of Anderson who have yet to watch this have something to look forward to.

Shame

Michael Fassbender plays a sex-addict with intimacy troubles and a strained relationship with his self-destructive sister. It was a good movie, lovely scenes and superbly played by Fassbender, but I still feel like I wasn't quite able to connect with his character's obvious pain. I didn't quite understand where it was all coming from and in the end, I was left guessing.

Still an enjoyable movie and looking forward to seeing more of Fassbender when I check out Prometheus next week.
