I watched Tupac Resurrection last night after the game for the first time. Never actually seen that much actual footage of him other than just his videos or concert footage. But to actually hear him talk and express his self in a one on one conversation was stunning. He's always been my favorite rapper but I dont think he was just your average run of the mill rapper. He's really well spoken and I thought the film gave a lot of insight to what drove him and his real outlook on lifes dilemmas and perks. I like his views and standpoints on a lot of issues that he mentioned in his music but it was cool to hear him elaborate in detail to in a casual conversation.

Brilliantly shot, great soundtrack but terrible script. Such a cliched plot unfortunately that can be found in countless B movies. Such a shame as Gina Carano is not only hot but she has a great screen presence too even if her acting is not the best. Friends in high places for Soderbergh gave this movie much more attention than it's plot deserves.

Despite a general mauling by the critics, I was still intrigued enough to watch this as the director Chris Gorak made the excellent low budget post apocalyptic thriller Right At Your Door and this very nearly makes it onto the cult classic radar if it was free from studio interference that plainly wanted the film to appeal to a younger audience. It is an unusual alien invaders film and has some really original set pieces but the first 10 minutes is awful and the film treads an uneasy line between crowd pleasing plot lines and indie cred. Much better than it should be really and I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't expecting anything from this movie.

Dazed & Confused
I love Richard Linklater so it's about time I got around to watching the films that made him famous. This was just hilarious and contains all the traits I love about his films: it's dialogue heavy, light on plot, and more focused on capturing a moment or feeling. I'd put it up there with Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly as one of his best films. 9/10

Turns out my roommate had never seen Shaun of the Dead so we had to rectify that. This movie really never gets old to me and I think it will be one of those rare comedies that is still as funny 20 years ago as it is now.

Nothing special but a decent enough watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Travolta hams it up and Washington is as dependable as ever.

Oh dear oh dear. Look I am a massive fan of the Alien franchise and welcomed a prequel especially with Ridley Scott in the chair but this was so uninspiring. It looked great in parts and a few questions were answered but the direction was really lackluster, most of the characters were badly written and you could pick holes in the damn thing all night. Very disappointed.

An absolute slow burner and not to everyone's tastes but this is a great little gem. A revenge movie of sorts but shot on a shoestring budget and refreshingly lacking in cliches. There are times especially in the first 40 minutes when you question what the hell you are watching but slowly everything comes into focus with a very hard hitting last third. A pleasant surprise.

This was a wonderful documentary on the man who is supposedly the best sushi chef in the world. He is 84 years old. It was beautiful, with great visuals and an incredibly score of classical music and a little bit of Japanese folk. A fascinating look at not only the elderly chef Jiro, but on his restaurant, his home life, Japanese history, culture and tradition.

It's available for streaming on Netflix, watch it.

I thought that was really good too, I wish I could have tried what he was serving though, it all looked amazing.

I can't remember if we have a tread for movie rec's... Anyways I'm looking for a decent French language film to watch. Preferably without subtitles since I speak French, and subtitles are just annoying when you can already understand everything. I've already seen Amélie, which is a great movie. Something like Amélie or something completely different would be great. Also no horror - not a huge fan of horror.

Have you seen City of Lost Children or Delicatessen? Both are great movies by the same director who did Amélie.
