I love Dead Man personally, but I can certainly see it being the kind of movie you have to be in the right mood for. (Also, it's not a directorial debut, Sparky.)

Dead Man is one of my favorite films. And, yeah, Jarmusch had written and directed at least 5 films by then. If you don't like Dead man, I shudder to think how you'd feel about his actual debut. As for Depp's acting, I kind of see what Sparky means but he had only starred in a handful of films previously and I think Dead Man was his peak at the time. Also, I love the Neil Young score.

I haven't met too many people who dislike Dead Man. Perhaps it's one of those "I guess you had to be there" things. Definitely not for the ADHD generation.

I recently saw Cloud Atlas. For a 5-hour-long mindfuck it's pretty okay.

I should really watch Dead Man again. I saw it three years ao before my film taste developed and was just bored. I like you guys so I'll give it another shot. It's on Hulu Plus so at least it'll be a free watch.

FANTASTIC. I loved it. Kevin Bacon was hilarious and the script was deserving of its Oscar nomination. I do however wish it had a better ending. It just seemed weak compared to the rest of the film. I have a core group of friends that I still hang out with since high school so I connected on the commradery that was shown throughout. Also, Mickey Rourke looked ike a normal person once.

8.5/0

One of the worst movies I've ever seen, but in an awesome way. Hilarious movie with great one liners. I haven't been that entertained in a while.

"I just ate shaving cream."
"Yeah well once in a while you gotta eat shaving cream."

Brilliant.

2/10 on a serious level
10/10 on a hilarious level

I didn't notice the soundtrack too much, just the same couple chords recycled over and over after every single scene. A lot of the scenes are perfunctory, having iggy pop guest star sounds neat but it added absolutely nothing except his likeness and name in credits. I have no problem with Jarmusch making a film for himself, i just didn't care for it. The native american character seemed like something out of a disney film.

We must be watching different Disney films.

obviously he's not exactly like a Disney character, but might as well be with his cartoon features and demeanor in the film.
