It was a terrible waste of JGL and I don't think his character was necessary. I would have preferred the movie if they had cut out his character and a majority of Sally Fields's overly cheesetastic lines.

Speaking of JGL, enough of this Batman/Lincoln small time **** with him playing stupid unnecessary and forgettable supporting characters. Dude has too much talent to be squandering it in these kind of roles IMO...

No doubt they've been around that long, but the frequency in which they were used seemed a bit out of place amongst people involved in government, and even President Lincoln himself.

Not too shabby although it is a tad too long. Just like the other Bourne films a second viewing reveals a lot more. Jeremy Renner is decent enough but I found Rachel Weisz a little light dramatically in the female role.

Well this was a very pleasant surprise. Billed as a Zombie movie but it's nothing of the sort really. Basically a 3 hander with the characters broadcasting their usual daily Radio programme holed up in their building in the middle of winter when reports start coming through of people attacking each other and speaking incomprehensibly, is it a hoax? or is it really happening as nothing is coming through on the official channels. Highly original, thought provoking and brilliantly played especially by Stephen McHattie, highly recommended even if you don't like Horror films. Make sure you watch through the credits to see a quite bizarre vignette. The DVD (at least the U.K version) has a couple of brilliant short films as extras with Eve being one of the most unusual and visually striking things I have seen for quite a long time.

Honestly, I don't remember any f-bombs, but I do remember listening to an interview with Doris Kearns Goodwin not too long ago where she was talking about how Lincoln was well-known for telling off-color jokes and stories. Apparently that one about the painting of George Washington in the outhouse is one he definitely really told to people.

Yeah, but cussing isn't an essential component of off-colour humour. Lincoln's stories were pretty damn funny, speaking of that. The scene where he went on telling his story while his advisor loudly expressed disgust had me cracking up.

But it's all relative to the time period. I'd say the jokes that were made in the movie were offcolour even without much strong language being used.

One of my favorite films. It's a shame nobody has really seen this movie.

This is by far Jet Li's best work. It really exposes his genius skills. Sometimes it felt like watching a full on Street Fighter battle between real martial artists. I was siting there dumbfounded by the thrilling scenes, and it would make you keep asking "how does he do that?!" He's just incredibly slick, fast and flexible. The choreograph in general is amazing. Great opponents who are also incredibly skilful. Solid story too which is based around history of China's Kung Fu master Huo Yuanjia and his school. It's the kind of action movie you could watch over and over and never cease to be at awe. Now if only those westerners would get a clue, because they need to tap into his abilities and utilise it like this.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

This was easily my favourtie movie as a child. When I was 6 I dressed up as Jack Skellington for Halloween and I seriously wore down my cassette tape of all the songs. However for whatever reason I never bought it on DVD when I started collecting those so I can't remember the last time I saw it, and when I saw Netflix had it I decided to give it a go. I can't believe I still remember all the words to the songs and even a decent amount of lines. I'm definitely going to grab the score though, it sounds like great music to put on while studying or reading. That said though, you really can see how far the claymation style has come in recent years, especially with what Laika Studios have been doing with 3D printing. Still there's a certain quaint charm that The Nightmare Before Christmas still exhibits and for 1993 it still looks great, but a little frayed around the edges when compared to Coraline or ParaNorman.
