Red lights - parapsychology type movie with 2 character evolutions. The protagonist evolution completely foreseen but unwarranted, ending with a monologue that attempted to wrap up the movie left me with more questions and completely unsatisfied. Granted not a bad movie but not a good one.

The Raid: Redemption
I was excited to see this one based on all the positive commentary I had read about it, but unfortunately I thought it was pretty mediocre. The fight scenes were just okay, nothing I could get very excited about, which is certainly bad news for a movie that's all about fight scenes. The plot was pretty bland too, and worst of all I didn't really feel like the movie went anywhere. There wasn't much of a climax or anything, just the cinematic equivalent of a balloon deflating.

Can't argue about the plot. It was bad, but how in the hell did you find the fight just mediocre?

Mama

Surprisingly not bad. I really didn't like "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and was reluctant in seeing this one but GDT has earned a second chance on his producing efforts and this wasn't that bad. I really enjoyed the shots of mama that weren't close up. CGI wasn't great but there were plenty great scenes. I'd say it's worth a watch.

6.5/10

Right? I loved the 2 on 1 fight towards the end. That dude just wouldn't go easily.

I liked the tension of the close quarters combat a lot.

And honestly, I didn't mind the plot. It didn't detract from the film in my eyes. The corruption, the twist of allegiances, etc. were pretty nice.

The ending itself could have been ... more... but that's my only critique.

I just didn't find them exciting. The one in the hallway where the guy was fighting with a knife and nightstick was decent, but the rest were really dull. The fight with the two brothers against Mad Dog was probably the worst, just three guys in a room with nothing in it, spending a lot of time rolling around on the floor. It was like watching drunk people fighting in a bar but without the interest of actually being there. The fact that, in retrospect, that was the climactic fight scene of the movie just makes it all the worse.

Well that's all and fine but I'm having a hard time thinking of a movie with fight scenes that you could possibly think are better. Bruce Lee movies don't count because of how classic they are but I want to hear what you think is a superior fight scene. IP Man comes to mind but what else? Tell me. TELL ME YOU FOOL.

Ip Man was pretty great. I forgot I had watched that a couple weeks ago. I'm looking forward to watching Ip Man 2....

Story lacked but the fight scenes are pretty good. It's like an Asian Rocky.

I don't know, basically any movie I liked more than this one that has fight scenes in it. Ip Man would one example for sure, as would any Jackie Chan or Jet Li movie from the 20th century. Christ, I think the fight scene in Ted was better than any of the fight scenes in The Raid: Redemption. What do you want me to tell you?
