It was corporate but the chain only had 52 theaters. We were strictly NY/NJ/PA.

It's okay. The job was pretty cool. I'm one of the last group of 35mm film projectionists. It's all digital now.

but you still get actual film for every new release?

If that doesn't make sense, i mean, like all new films still have physical film copies?

I ask because I remember when Final Fantasy:Spirit Within came out it was the first digital only film if I recall correctly. You couldn't view it at every theater because of this, but i may be mistaken.

I'm not in the business anymore but I still have friends who are.

Most major distributors (Paramount, Sony, Universal, Warner Brothers, Disney) stopped releasing new films on 35mm film. They now come in hard drives that are literally uploaded onto the digital projector. "Film" is basically dead. Interstellar in IMAX is film though so I'd go out to see it if you want to see one of the last new films shown in 35.

Old films however, in private theaters...almost always 35mm. Find an art house.

yeah I know chris nolan has no intention of switching to digital anytime soon.

You could make the analogy that film, like the audio record previously, already hit a peak in quality that is still in some ways superior to digital format.

It's probably minute to most of us(just like i honestly can't tell the difference in audio quality between records and mp3's) but discernible to the purists.

I think it's also a small form of art preservation. People don't like to let things die.

I watched The Lego Movie the other night and it's one of those great gems of children's entertainment, hilarious and fun and many unexpected cameos. Here's a song from it.
