Seems to be one of those movies that don't get advertised much and are easily overlooked.
Interesting mix of western and horror. I was reminded of Ravenous, although it's different enough.
Good, actually mostly great acting, simplistic, but engaging story, fun characters, well-written dialogue, some very violent and disturbing scenes...
Hope this movie eventually finds its audience.

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

The last time I laughed this hard to a movie, I was losing my virginity to In Bruges.

James Bond - Spectre

I've never seen Quantum of Solace or Skyfall, but if QoS is better than Spectre, then Quantum must have been some serious ass, cause Spectre was ****ing boring.

All of the action scenes were generic and dull -- with the exception of the train fight, which still reminded me of the opening of Casino Royale, not because they were particularly similar, but because Bond drowning the dude in a sink was so memorable that I couldn't help but notice how inferior this scene from Spectre was, even if it was still satisfyingly brutal... kind of.

The car chase scene felt like just another Bond car chase scene, and whenever he found that one of the car gadgets didn't work, rather than increase the tension, it just felt like a letdown that there were no missiles or industrial-strength acid or weapons-grade ghosts. The lack of any memorable action scenes actually made me wish for the eye-rollingly absurd excesses of the last few Brosnan movies (of course I might be biased, as I was raised on the Brosnan movies).

Bond's mission also seemed mostly divorced from the main plot of the movie, which just felt like the writers/producers/director/who-the-****-ever were tacking on some generic spy movie plot on what was really just a boring bread crumb movie, where Bond just went from location to location, finding some piece of information to lead him to the next piece of information. The "main plot" could have been completely cut from the movie and it would not have affected Bond's mission in the slightest.

I could have forgiven... at least some of that, if not for just how boring the middle of the movie was. Literally seconds before the train fight I found myself thinking, "God this is boring. When is something going to actually happen?", and then the fight was over almost as soon as it began, followed by more boring boringness, as if the director just added the scene in because he realized just how boring a movie he was making (and who on Earth actually gave a **** about that villain?)

Much of that unfocused boringness of the middle of the movie was due to the focus on Bond's relationship with... that chick, whatever her name was. Not only did Craig and... whoever that actress was, lack any on-screen chemistry, but their whole relationship arc was almost cartoonishly rushed and arbitrary. *kinda sorta spoiler* "I hate you, let's ****, I love you, I can't do this anymore, nah, I guess I can, nice car," *end kinda sorta spoiler* It's not like Bond girls and their relationships with Bond are ever the focus of the movie, but god damn was she one of the least interesting Bond girls of all time.

The ONLY truly redeeming thing about this movie was the main villain, whose appearance I have been waiting for ever since the Brosnan movies (I don't even know if it counts as a spoiler to any Bond fan to tell you who the villain was, even though I'm not going to, as I pretty much knew who it was before the movie even started, regardless of the fact that I hadn't seen the preceding two movies).

Christoph Waltz ruled every single scene he was in, and every single scene he was in was pure awesomeness. For some reason, even the cinematography became awesome when he appeared. I don't even want to say anything more about his character or performance, but just know that if you are on the fence about seeing this movie, then wasting your money will still be worth it just for him. Quite possibly the greatest Bond villain of all time.

But other than that, this movie kinda blew.

You're a bad person. Okay, it was kinda fun. But you're still immoral.

That movie was my bread and butter when I was 5. Still holds up pretty good too, never bothered with the sequel however. I caught a glimpse on Cartoon Network a couple months back but it didn't hold my interest.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

It was a riot. So, so bad yet so, so good.

The sequel was kinda the same but that first one will forever hold a special place in my heart
