What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

I thought the last 30 minutes or so of Interstellar was the worst work of Nolan's career to be completely honest, and it makes me cringe when I watch it. Aside from that, and the weird, unnecessary Bond-villain esque exposition from Matt Damon's character, it was pretty good I guess, better than The Martian at least.

Can't forget the love monologue. That was just downright uncomfortable to watch.

Tell me you didn't tear up just a tad. But yeah, all those things you said are totally true. As cheesy as I am I still cringed during that love speech.

Matt Damon's motivation for doing what he did was clear. He knew plan A was bogus so he was intent of making sure plan B succeeded - at any costs.

The love monologue worked in the sense that by that point in the movie all of the characters were emotionally spent. Think of everything they'd been through. They were never getting back to earth. It was basically a suicide mission from there on. Plus, she's a chick - so she's gets some slack.

The "alien" part of the movie was fine for me. There's really no benchmark when you enter into those waters. People hated the wormhole imagery of 2001 when it first came out. The ending of Close Encounters, while visually stunning, is pretty laughable in hindsight. And forget about ET.

Again, this is all based on my third viewing after not seeing it for a long time.

But the gist of that monologue and the ending was "all you need is love, cause love = science", and COME ON! Doesn't that make you want to gag just a little?
