I know jack-crap about Warcraft edcept there's a character named Rexxar. So it's possible I'd be confused by the movie.
No you wouldn't be confused by the movie. There is enough of them explaining **** over and over again as to NOT confuse people. The whole "for the fans" bit only comes from the fans knowing more details about certain scenes because they know the lore. They couldn't fit every single detail from the lore into the movie. It would have been a five hour long movie.

Well, if a story is told correctly, you don't have to explain it over and over.

Ja...that's usually more on the viewer than the film itself.

I know that but it's strange for them to get that critic when it wasn't confusing at all.

Depends on the viewer. You get hardcore Warcraft fans in a room to watch Warcraft, it's not confusing. Get people that don't know the game, and it is confusing. However, if a story is told right, both parties can appreciate it.

The movie was made for people who are heavily into the lore, and that's not something I'm interested to research before seeing a movie.

But it isn't though, the people that are heavily into the lore will have fun with the easter eggs. It's fine don't watch it but it isn't as bad as you think it is or confusing for the non player.

I've been watching a lot of newer films, from the past few years, that I've missed.

The Invitation (2015)

Very engaging yet simple thriller/drama, with slow burning tension. A dinner party, but something is off. You're not quite sure if you're seeing the setting through the eyes of paranoid protagonist; at least the film was having that effect on me - questioning the perspective. Reminds me of another film I saw several months ago, in atmosphere and setting, Coherence.

Upstream Color (2013)

This was enthralling and hypnotizing. I was actually quite surprised how into it I was and how easily the film just flowed. I was surprised because I struggled with Primer even after rewatch. I don't know what is it about that film. It has all the ingredients for me to like it. It's a time travel mind****, I should eat it up. It's not the plot and time travel mechanics, it's the way it is presented. The film just strikes me as so dry, and...the best word I can come up with is - undramatic. Upstream Color is the opposite. It seems I enjoyed it for all the reasons I didn't Primer. Great film

Under the Skin (2013)

Another great film. Very slow and all the more effective for it. Tells a pretty straightforward poignant story. The story is very familiar to sci-fi fans, but it's a such a great story that it should be told over and over.

They're really great. There seem to be in recent years a lot of films where sci-fi (or horror to a lesser extent) is merely just a backdrop for proper drama, or if it's more overt it's in the service of drama. I've seen people call it lo-fi sci-fi and such. I like.
