I don't disagree. Enter the Void lacks substance, but it's still a very interesting experience during the first viewing.

It's absolutely stunning visually and the dreamlike way it portraits death is downright poetic.

Did you like Irreversible? Or did you feel it fell to far into the gimmicky side? I think it's by far his best.

Didn't see it. I've seen Enter The Void and I Stand alone and just didn't feel like watching any more of his stuff. I suppose it's one of those movies one should see once but so far I'm just not motivated enough.

personally i think I Stand Alone is his best film.....while i agree that he simply makes films to shock and provoke....i still think he does well at

Irreversible was genius in the backwards linear story telling and the use of the chaotic camera which as things calm down and become normal so does the camera

Enter the Void was interesting in the concept of the psychedelic experience being like death and had some amazing camera work also...but again the shocking bullshit just to be shocking

i tried watching Love the other day and simply found it boring

Agreed on Love, bob. The 2011 scifi film of the same name is great though.

The Lobster

Absolutely hysterical and thought provoking. The first half of the film was much more developed than the back half, but I loved the whole ride. Yorgos Lanthimos delivers by making the viewer want to have several viewings without requiring them to because his films hit so hard on the first punch. Dogtooth was much better, but Dogtooth is also something that they should teach in film schools as a "perfect film." That's a high bar to set. I think The Lobster gets a 4.5/5

Also, it's on Amazon Prime for anyone (Chula) who has that.

^ I completely forgot about that movie but remember loving it based off of the trailer alone. I need to watch that tomorrow night.

The Lobster is great. Love the acting in it especially.
