I seriously feel compelled to take a bath after watching that s***.
I went to the theaters to see that three times. It was great and not as much of a **** show like every nincompoop was complaining about. Also ended up buying the soundtrack after the first viewing.

I also thought people were a little hard on it. I think it's an ok movie...I was entertained for 90 minutes. The biggest problem I had with it was the tone. The originals were definitely comedies, but it was handled as if it was serious. The genius came from Bill Murray grounding it realism...as if he was the "everyman" commenting on how ridiculous all of it seemed, which really helped suspend disbelief. The new one is your typical post-Anchorman irreverent "we're going to film them improvising for every scene and keep the funniest takes" bull**** that every contemporary comedy seems to go for these days. Wayyy too many sight-gags for my taste.

Again, I was still entertained. I do like Melissa McCarthy. As its own movie, it was fine. Will people remember it in 30 years like the original? No way.

Kate McKinnon was my favorite in this movie. I felt like she stole most scenes she was in.

I took it for what it was an entertaining modern take on an older movie. The older movies are still around to love and show off to your kids. I feel like kids may appreciate this newer one more and they will be the ones bragging to their own children about how good this movie was in nostalgia hindsight.

You may be right. To me, though, that style of humor is getting so played out. I didn't mind that it was a reboot or that the cast was female (I'm with you on Kate McKinnon - if I ever rewatch the movie, it will be because of her and she's the only reason the movie would deserve a sequel), I just thought they should have kept with the spirit of the originals. One easy thing they could have done was throw a bit more modern-day paranormal theory in there. Dan Aykroyd was a paranormal buff and incorporated actual paranormal theory into the originals. He was involved in the reboot, so I'm surprised none of that snuck in. If they covered any of the "science", it was blazed past to get to the next gag. I just felt Paul Feig didn't grasp what made the originals so special.

Blue Caprice didn't actually shock me until the last 25 minutes, but the buildup through characters and dialogue throughout the film brought the third act to disgusting heights. I'm not sure if I'll watch it again but hot damn it's worth discussing for a long time. 8/10

This fucking movie is a whole different beast. After loving Free Fire I wanted to delve into Ben Wheatley's other films and even though it's outstanding how unintelligible the accents are to me, I got the gist of it and this movie has fuuuuucked me up. Turns from a hitman family drama into a violent display of angry killings to straight up, by the books, horror. It's safe to say it was an odd experience. 7.5/10

Kill List is a great watch (with subtitles).
