I wouldn't have it any other way

Except visceral body horror

And tastefully done maniac slashers

and space demons

and demons in space

generally gnarly demons

horror's my new favorite thing

I used to feel that way as well. There's a lot of crap out there, but I think horror is the most fertile genre for fascinating character studies. Fear is just plain interesting. If it's not your thing that's cool though.

It's melodic minor key of F played on an instrument with just intonation not cool if you know what I mean.

My biggest issue with the genre has always been the usage of cheap jump scares and gross out for the sake of gross out. Like Psycho is ten times scarier then say Cannibal Holocaust. Stuff like A Serbian Film feel pointless and might as well be a snuff film in my eyes.

The only horror film I can say that I genuinely love and enjoy is the sixth sense.

Psychological thrillers should not be confused with horror movies.. I feel like most of the good "horror" movies actually fall into the former category(in my limited movie watching experience). When I think horror, I think blood and guts from monsters and supernatural things, not Saw, Psycho, etc.. Psych thrillers can be gruesome, but don't have to be, and that isn't the point (which is why they are so much better).

Then stop watching bad horror movies and start watching good horror movies. Go watch Alien, or The Conjuring, or Night of the Living Dead, or Halloween, or Funny Games, or The Thing, or five million other awesome movies that aren't schlock.
