pretty good. definitely doesn't warrant the stellar reviews it's been getting but it was solid nonetheless. a really nice mixture of silly humour, campy moments, and genuinely good horror. it won't blow you away, at least it didn't for me, but it's a solid foundation for the series and immensely better than the piece of **** original that still to this day bores me to tears.

Yeah that was a great movie. A few things annoyed me though. I don't think they put enough emphasis on the fact that her dad was molesting her and the bullies didn't use any racial slurs on the black kid. Like, I hate it when they shy away from these kinds of things. It's a movie about a clown that eats children, why are they pussy footing this ****. If the movie was rated R it barely got that rating, too. Those were two huge missed opportunities to really explore the realities of these situations for the sake of keeping it a little less offensive.

I thought the original was pretty good and though I haven't seen the new IT I don't think it'll be better than the original.

But hey, to each his own.

have you rewatched the original? it's one of the longest, most drawn out, boring film experiences i've ever had. it's cringy, campy in all the wrong ways, and while the children's story is alright the adult part is absolutely garbage.

objectively speaking the new one was just made better. not saying you have to like it more, just that it was actually well written, the dialogue wasn't awkward and misplaced like the original, the overacting was kept to a minimal, it took some liberties to not follow the book word for word, etc.
