The Devil's Candy

Sunn O))) should do more soundtracks. Otherwise this was pretty bad.

I don't. It's got Carpenter's hand in it and it disregards all of the sequels from the original. It's supposed to be a direct sequel to the first with the original vision Carpenter had in mind for 'The Shape'.

Plus they are also remaking Susperia.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

Watched this one last night:

Los viajes del viento/The Wind Journeys

I wanted to read some reviews of it after I was done watching it, but there's nothing at all on neither Rottentomatoes or Metacritic - no matter which title I search by. Out of curiosity, I went to the IMDB user reviews section instead (normally I never use those) and I thought that the featured user review described the worth of this movie just perfectly:

"A beautiful film that is in no hurry to unfold (and it shouldn't be because "being in a hurry" is not something the people in the movie seem to feel). Life is not easy here (you can see this etched into every character's face) but you persevere and along the way you look for, and create, beauty and kindness. I love the way the camera often moves backward, showing the characters moving from one environment into the next (they know where they're headed but we don't. The expressions on Fermin's face at the end are a complex wonder to behold (and a great topic for discussion afterward). If you are looking for an anxiety-inducing, misanthropic action-thriller then keep looking. If you want to see a poetic gem made by people who clearly see beauty in the world and know how to help us see it too, then settle down and enjoy "The Wind Journeys"."

It's a patient movie and a stunningly beautiful one as well. An important thing the IMDB user above neglects to mention, is the role of music. Music is absolutely integral to the story and themes of the film. All music in the film is diegetic - no exceptions - which is a rare thing and used to wonderful effect. The music is diverse, but very much centered around hand drums and accordion. A scene late in the movie shows one of our main characters play accordion along with a flute playing native, and it's a stunning scene. Stunning in a quiet sort of way, like this movie is in general. Pretty much loved this movie. Easily a new member of my "favorite movies" list.
