What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

I saw the Big Lebowski again because I vaguely remembered it. Last time I saw it, I was 16 or so. That movie is straight up trash. I don't even know how it's a cult classic. I guess just because it's a stoner flick. Most stoner flicks are gawd awful to me. The only two that I give passes to are The Harold and Kumar flicks and the one that Dave Chapelle did that I can never remember the name of. I also don't smoke weed so there's my main problem I guess. The movie just felt like a bunch of events/jokes thrown together with all of the punchlines taken out. As soon as they are about to get to the punchline they are like "hey let's start a new joke." It was such torture for me to get through this movie. I kept pausing it to do stuff around my apartment then coming back.

I also re-watched Tropic Thunder this weekend and I laughed just as hard at all the jokes the very first time I saw it.

On my re-watch was also The Happening and Quarantine. After watching the special features from The Happening. I appreciate it more and accept it more I guess. I wish they would have really left the more graphic scenes in the movie but then it would have been a NC-17 rating. I wanted the Rob Zombie treatment of being beaten over the head with gratuitous violence until I become numb to it like in House of a Thousand Corpses.

Quarantine, I'm not going to even talk about because I fell asleep through it again. I have yet to actually finish this movie. I just get bored and fall asleep.

Quarantine was pretty god awful, however the Spanish original of the film [Rec] was incredibly well done.

A short film called "Cat Soup" I honestly don't know what to think about it. I've never been a huge fan of Japanese animation, there was always something that bothered me about it. It is a surrealist film but at the same time a black comedy, because there were certain moments that were very funny but still quite disturbing. I suppose I enjoyed it but the many WTF moments kind of overwhelmed me a bit.

I got up unusually early this morning and this was left in the DVD player in the lounge, so I indulged. I didn't think it was that bad really. There were some pretty funny bits here and there, and Ricky Gervais turned in a good performance. It was kind of undone by all the conventions of the rom-com genre in the end though - got a bit predictable and a little too sugary towards the end then.

It was surprisingly good. Baz Luhrmann is a really good director and the cinematography was pretty awesome. But I think only Australians appreciate it. A lot of people from other places in the world don't really know much of the history and the relevance of it to today (and when the PM said sorry to the aboriginal people) so yeah.

I was glad it didn't end I like I thought it would, the reporter and young firefighter living happily ever after?

I always expect movies to have a stupid ending like that, nowadays.

I thought this was going to be like a romantic comedy or something but everyone told me it was a really sad film. They totally didn't promote it as such.

Ever been on a train or in a bar or at a party where some socially retarded person corners you into listening to some pointless, rambling monologue about their job, their hobby or their relationship with their parents? That's exactly what this movie feels like. Back in the early 80s Errol Morris, the guy who made The Thin Blue Line, went to the little podunk town of Vernon, Florida and filmed various residents flapping their gums about whatever they felt like talking about. Not surprisingly the movie is an excruciatingly boring viewing experience. It's only 55 minutes long but it feels like about five hours. It's also considered kind of a cult classic but damned if I know why. This is seriously one of the worst documentaries I've ever seen.

I saw Year One today:

Boring and stupid at times, but had its fair share of funny bits. Plus Michael Cera is tre cute; I have a thing for awkward dorky guys.
