^ Not really in a Halloween mood, plus I feel Nine, Alice in Wonderland, Up in the Air and Agora are my priority for now.

Fever Pitch (1997)
Utter garbage. It cracks me up that the poster says "The film is a riot!" though since there is not a single second of the movie that I found funny.

Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959)

oh how I loved this. You can keep your 'Breathless', this is my new favourite French New Wave film. Memory can be a tricky thing...

Tideland - didn't like it. The acting was annoying, which put me off completely. I fell asleep near the end so I didn't even finish it.

The proposition - solid but unremarkable auzzy western.

For a fistful of dollars - ok, but nowhere near as exhilirating as Once upon a time in the west

Dig! - more interesting than either of those band's music (at least the stuff I heard in the doc).

The host - started this a few years ago but couldn't finish it. I finally did, it's a solid monster thriller but nothing I'd go back to. I found Memories of murder far more interesting.

Yeah, I watched The Host last Tuesday myself. A very decent monster movie, hits the anti-America button a few times (Obvious by the fact that its one of the few South Korean movies to gain significant kudos from its Northern brother).

Interesting to see Joon-ho go from Memories to The Host though. Now just gotta wait for Mother to hit our shores.

Agree with you regarding these two (the other two I haven't seen). Concerning Tideland, I quite like Terry Gilliam and although it wasn't quite unexpected it wasn't going to be really good (didn't like The Brothers Grimm either), it was worse than I feared. I found the guy who played the retard to be so annoying that he basically ruined it for me all on his own. The rest - story, how it was pulled off, etc - not really something to get excited about.

I'm not gonna get my hopes up for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Gilliam has really gone off the rails in the last 10 years. I blame a combination of crappy CGI fx (the magic of his best films was in the amazing physical effects, which is where he learned his trade obviously) and conscpicuous attempts to live up to his legend. Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus looks worse than Baron Munchhausen, and that's saying something

Had a night in last night with some bargain-priced beers, a fat takeaway and a couple of good old political thrillers on the box. Both were enjoyable enough, if nothing spectacular, and Syriana was a little on the hard-to-follow side (although that's probably mostly because I watched all the scenes in Arabic without subtitles).

A few moons ago, I was casually zapping when all of the sudden i see that a James Bond film with Sean Connery is coming up. Naturally, I stick around only to see that it was this one:

I like how in the beginning of the movie Sean Connery shakes his gun to kill people, it's very realistic. Also, the shmexy saggy chest, the hair and the eyebrows contribute to the legendary old queer we all know from the other James Bond films (O.o). Let's not forget the awesome video game that he plays in the casino and that gives you electric shocks if you don't defend yourself from Teh Lasers! I'm not even gonna comment the one liners...
Oh hell, how could i not? Here's a little gem for you all: A nurse is standing by a counter and says "Mr. Bond, I need you to give me a urin sample." To which the charming secret agent, which is sitting on the other side of the room replies "All the way from over here?" (not entirely accurate, but still)
I spent most of the film trying to decide whether i should laugh or cry. The scene where Fatima Blush is killed with a bazooka pen definitely made up my mind, LAUGH MY ASS OFF.
The ridiculousness of that scene is only comparable to the sheer AWESOMENESS of the one present in this video:

@Bulldog
^ Didn't know they talked that much Arabic in Syriana. I like watching these movies, it makes me feel superior lol.

^I really liked it. It's good to see a film where the characters are genuine. Like everyday people, without some pathetic Hollywood artifice.
