I think the very last film I watched was Oliver Stone's U Turn. But to be honest, I was pretty drunk and not paying attention to a lot of parts. Didn't hold a candle to Natural Born Killers, imo.

But I did have the happy opportunity recently to watch some Jim Jarmusch films, Dead Man and Coffee and Cigarettes and I liked them both very much.

It was one of my favourite books as a kid but I never bothered to see the movie. I think the book is all of ten sentences or so, and I'd like to know how they stretched that into a feature length film. Seriously.

Never read the book but the film is my favorite from last year. Fun yet multilayered. And a great soundtrack to boot.

I liked the soundtrack, but I just didn't think the film was anything special.

I just returned from a cine-concert. The movie was Dans la nuit (1929), a film by Charles Vanel, and the last French Silent movie. The score was composed specially for this film, which is in a way the concert, by Louis Sclavis (former member of the Henri Texier Quartet).

^ First of all, I like the movie. Some great scenes, shows the German expressionism influence. It's about a young happily married couple, that witness the destruction of their conjugal life, following a mine accident that left the husband disfigured.

^Second of all, the score. Just to leave you with a taste of what the concert sounded like, here's a youtube clip, with the music of Louis Sclavis.

It's not my first of the sort. My first cine-concert, was with a musique-concrête/Jazz band, playing their own composition for Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Another memorable night.

It's a shame cine-concerts aren't more popular. I can't think of a greater concept actually. And yeah, it was an awesome experience
