Hannibal Rising

I actually enjoyed the beginning of the movie - up until the slaughtering of the butcher. From there everything turned sour. Merciless and repetitive murdering, with an even blander ending.

I haven't watched much of the Hannibal saga. As memory serves me right, I've only seen, other than Hannibal Rising, Silence of the Lambs (twice) , which I must say was much better than Hannibal Rising.

Watching this right now. In terms of a documentary, it's really bad. It's altering the context of the interviews and the editing is just horrible. It's basically guilty of many of the things it criticizes. Its arguments against religion are pretty damn weak. And that's coming from an atheist. The camera work is also really, really sloppy (a common factor in many documentaries that I can't really see a purpose of, just because it's a documentary doesn't mean you don't have to put some effort into it).

It is, however, funny. Very much so. Much more so than most comedies I've seen.

I actually enjoyed this movie. I was told that it is an Arabic version of Sex and the City, but it is nothing like that.

If it's enjoyable and it's a documentary, I would say it's a good documentary. I know I liked it a lot.

Is a stellar piece of journalism? No. Is it a powerful logical argument? No. But then it doesn't claim to be either of those things.

But yeah, it doesn't really matter. It's good simple fun, that's what counts (in this case at least).

It's more like a Lebanese version of Vénus beauté, or maybe Beauty Shop.
Anyway, I really enjoyed that film when it came out. Has some very funny yet sad moments.

Make sure you watch Hannibal sometime. As brilliant as Silence Of the Lambs is, it's my favourite of the lot.

Also, be sure to stay at least 100 yards away from copies of Red Dragon at all times.

What's wrong with Red Dragon?

"Red Dragon was a box office success, earning $92,930,005 (profit) in the US", oppose to Hannibal Rising's $32,169,884, so I don't think it can be as bad, seeing as there's about a $60,000,000 difference in profit margin.
