I have indeedy, far better than A History of Violence. But it's nice to see he can do both kind of styles, The Fly was really surreal and displayed a lot of gore and a constant physical struggle. A History of Violence was just a good ol' tried and trusted thriller.

I dunno if anyone noticed or whether it's just me, but it had a very old school horror kind of feel to it. Which is good considering it was a remake.

It reminded me of Spiderman, except... what really should've happened to Peter Parker.

Well, yeah, it's a 24 year old remake of a 52 year old movie so I guess it's not surprising someone would think it feels old school.

Yeah, it felt like it had a 50s old school feel to it. Even though it was a remake made in 86, they could've made it in a way that denied its roots and tried to make it more 80s, less 50s. But they didn't.

I can sort of see that I guess, though it's way too disgusting for a 50s movie. I also guarantee if you watch the 50s one, you'll be so struck by how quintessentially 50s it is that it will erase any notion from your mind that the 80s one feels remotely 50s.

I thought its roots shone through, though I haven't seen the 50s one so I can't say for sure. It was just a feeling I got, The Fly 1986 was a really great film though. I don't think I've ever seen a film that explores the physical horror/body horror genre like that. Though it did make me laugh because of the Spiderman thing. Peter gets to fight crime, and Seth...

If you like the body horror thing you should definitely check out Dead Ringers or even The Brood (both by Cronenberg).
