I always thought it'd be one of them films, massive reputation but ultimately a massive let down. But Alien deserves every bit of praise it gets.

Yeah, Ridley Scott at his best. Have you seen Blade Runner, another great film of his? He apparently forgot how to direct those kinds of films these days.

Yeah, I liked Blade Runner a lot. Seeing that really should've made me want to see Alien, but I just had a weird misconception it would be big hype with nothing to offer. Blade Runner's cinematography was gorgeous. Alien was really dark and brooding. Considering they're both Sci-fi films, released very close to each other. I thought they'd be extremely samey. The next film by Ridley I need to see is Thelma & Louise, is that any good? I've also had that on DVD for a while, just not got round to seeing it yet. Alien > Blade Runner, for me.

Well, it's a fun road movie, nothing more, nothing less, for me. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis are very entertaining and there's a young Brad Pitt with some shirtless scenes (well, maybe that's of no interest to you

and he's been shirtless many times after that). I think after that film Hollywood took notice of him. Worth a watch.

I actually rather liked this. It wasn't the greatest movie, exactly, but it had a certain sweetness that John Waters doesn't usually have.

Been wanting to see this for a while. A review I'd read of it called it a "piece of pop-art lunacy" and I couldn't have put it any better, for better or for worse. It's entertaining to watch for most of the running time but it feels interminable. Tina Turner as the Acid Queen, though... awesome.

Alien is my favorite movie filmed before 1990. Better than the sequel IMO...

Mumin och havet
Tove Jansson-documentary/interview. Nice little film for Tove Jansson-lovers. However, if you're not a Jansson-fan, you probably won't enjoy it much (and I doubt there are any english subtitles laying around).

No Country for Old Men

Visually astonishing with a nice atmosphere. Ok actor performances but with a lack of purpose. To make the villain a through-out evil psychopath without much other personality than simply "being evil" feels very cheap. The protagonist also feels illogical. Not for one second does he hesitate and think "Damn, I'm in a pretty bad situation. What if I never get to see my loved ones again?". It's the same monotonous, emotionless expressions and methodology that are more reminiscient of a machine than a human being.
Nice flick a friday evening but far from the masterpiece it is sometimes portrayed as.

Lyckantropen

Swedish indiefilm that surprises with its quality. The characters are well thought out and the actors do a great job (especially the little girl). Excellent visuals and audio (Ulver made the soundtrack) and with a dialouge that feels natural. It wants to do a few things in 28 minutes and sometimes it feels like certain scenes could have been more beautiful if they had been a tad longer. Apart from that, all I can really complain about is the ending which ruined the subtlety that was built up and maintained during the course of the movie. Recommended nonetheless.
