A few days ago I finally got around to watching Paranormal Activity.
After finding awhile back that it wasn't based on a true story, I wasn't interested in watching it. But then I thought, "You know what, I gonna watch this movie just to see why everyone loves it so much, I know it's not gonna be anything that great."
But then I watched and really surprised to find out it was a pretty good movie, one of my favorite now. I don't watch movies that much but I'm starting to get into some more than usual. I'm mostly into Disney movies, and Horror movies but mostly ones that are based on a true story or at least are somewhat realistic.

The Hurt Locker is set during early years of the Iraq War but the theme of the movie is more so about the emotional challenge faced by the soldiers than it is actual combat and operations. So in that sense, as you put it, it is an emotionally fueled drama set in the Iraq War.

Black Hawk Down is a lot closer to being a straightforward war movie that addresses the themes of that "conflict". Still, it's an incredibly intense and powerful film...

"Good fun" = good entertainment value but nothing truly spectacular.

Disappointing.

I liked the road. I mean yeah, it's slow and dismal. But I just like the way it was done, it's very introspective. Make sure you can handle it before you watch it, or it will hurt.

I feel the same about The Road. It was so bleak in the most literal-minded way that it made it extremely hard to watch, to my eyes and feelings. Actually, the film completely blunted my feelings. I'm not even sure if it's a good film, I just know that I won't see it again any time soon, if ever.

^The worst of the Shrek saga, not in the league of the 3 others. Just meh.

^A bit slow in the beginning, but 30 minutes into it, you get used to the characters which are all very well worked up.

^An underrated Thriller. Cillian Murphy is incredible in this one, and the cinematography is so Vermeer-esque. I really liked it.

Jut watched this tonight after having read the book ages ago. I can't say I ended up with the same soul crishing pointlessness though tbh. Dunno, maybe it's because I read the book and was 'ready' for it, butthe final results sort of made it as 'happy' as it could be in such a situation.

Wasn't great, was holding out to watch it for a while, but solid movie in the end I thought.
