there is also a linking cartoon/anime from PB to Chronicles, which I can't remember the name of

So there I was, thinking that having an anime marathon would be a good idea, so I watched these li'l nuggets earlier today...

Looked like it was gonna develop into that timeless, cliched-as-hell dual-personality killer ending, at which point I found myself wondering whether I was watching a good film or not, and then the ending came. In that sense, this film had me 100% fooled. Great stuff, even if the English dubbing was atrocious.

Very slow, and not much of a plot to speak of, but still a really fascinating film all the same, and one that really humanises the affect of WW2 on the side that a lot of war movies I've seen show it happening to don't. Again, top-drawer stuff.

And this one was just absolutely badass, simple as.

Loved all of them. Check out Ninja Scroll for THE most badass anime film.

Yes I used to own Vampire Hunter D as part of my anime classics collection I had to get another copy of it.

I agree with Adidiasss, go with Ninja Scroll and you should also check out Fist of the North Star if you haven't yet.

Yeah, depressing's hardly the word eh. I think a happy ending would've been entirely at odds with the kind of feel the film was going for though, so weird as it sounds, I'm glad it ended as it did and not some fairytale bollocks.

Yeah, I've seen Ninja Scroll, but not for at least 5 or 6 years. I do remember liking it though.

Haven't come across Fist Of the North Star though, I'll have to check that out after the Vampire Hunter sequel.
