What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

Lining up several first-time screenings of socio-political films for the weekend.

First up will be Children of Men, after viewing a fascinating short about the film from TheNerdist.

I recently enjoyed A Face in the Crowd, which I understand is another essential classic.

And my local indie theater, (the one which just played Ghost in the Shell), is double-featuring The Manchurian Candidate and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Innerspaceboy, I must know, have you ever seen the unpopular and disconcerting 1947 film (by the avant-garde artist Hans Richter) Dreams That Money Can Buy? I feel you're among the very few who might appreciate it. (I myself haven't seen it all the way through, though I've watched the confusing mannequin musical interlude scene hundreds of times.)

What a line-up of collaborators! I hadn't seen it but will rectify that promptly on the morrow! (Also, cheers for The Real Tuesday Weld side reference - I hadn't listened to them in far too long.)

The title instantly reminded me of my favorite 1956 short - Design for Dreaming, a blatant consumerism advert produced by General Motors. It is best-remembered as being screened before the MST3K episode for "12 to the Moon (1960)".

Let me know what you thought of Children of Men. That movie is monumental on so many levels.

The credits just ended. 'Monumental' is certainly the word for it. Also, 'gripping', 'captivating', and 'spellbinding'.

But most of all, I'm sticking to 'hyper-relevant.'

You should watch "the making of" feature. The amount of work that when into that car scene is ridiculous.

I was outrageously high and watching the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in a small fort I fashioned with a DVD player, just hot boxing my literal face. And it was like, sweet Jesus. I was enthralled

Watched it twice with alternate musical scores cuz I go hard
