Took the words right out of my mouth. I don't know what it was as I'm no movie expert but Django just seemed to draw me in more in a much more memorable way than Inglorious Basterds. I only watched Basterds once but would happily watch Django again and again.

I prefer Basterds to Django Unchained. I think its dialogue is better, its violence is more tasteful, it's better paced, and that it's an overall more polished effort. That being said, Django is awesome and my favourite movie of 2012. The two are definitely companion pieces, and I hope he makes more like them.

It didn't, I found it fun and humorous. It's just that I prefer Basterds' more graceful and restrained portrayal of violence. Especially during this scene:

The Woman in Black

Avoid this at all costs. Seriously. It was a piece of ****. Weird because I thought the directors' first film Eden Lake was pretty well done. Radcliffe should have no career in acting anymore. He's just not good. And don't tell me it's because I only see him as Harry Potter because I only saw the first three films. The dude just can't act. It was like he didn't want to be there. Not even nice aesthetics could save this.

The Godfather

This is going to come as a shock to most of you but this is on my list of films I just never got around to watching. I don't know if it was the long run time or the fact that I could never catch it on TV but it just eluded for my entire life. I found a good deal on Amazon and bought the restored versions of all three films. I'm not a huge fan of gangster films but how can I say this was anything short of perfect? I prefer Goodfellas but it's a flawless film with powerhouse acting. Great film and now I just have to find another three hours to sit still and watch Part II

Serpico

I wanted to continue the Pacino-thon by finally getting to see this one. This was the second film in his legendary four straight Oscar nominations. He was great in this one and I felt he gave a more heartfelt and serious performance than his very good but sporadic role in Dog Day Afternoon. This dragged in parts but it's a Lumet movie which means it was filmed perfectly and had a great ending.

Pacino and Lumet made a great team.

Bad Day at Black Rock

A western with Spencer Tracy and Lee Marvin? Count me in. I liked it. It wasn't perfect and the ending was quick and unsatisfying but it kind of had a cult movie feel where you just couldn't get over the fact that you're watching Tracy in his suit fight with western cowboys. Worth a watch.

Ferris Buellers' Day Off.

Watched it last night because I had received word that Netflix had it. It's been forever since I've seen the movie, and it's still as hilarious as when I saw it the first time.

Hard Candy

I didn't find it as disturbing as most people described to me as it being. I thought it was mostly a display of good acting rather than shocking story. I enjoyed it but only for Page and Wilsons' performances.

The Flight of the Phoenix

I saw the horrible remake a couple years ago and man does this knock that out of the park. It's a flawed film but overall a pretty damn fine one. The backstory behind it is also very interesting. A stuntman died trying to fly the prototype planes that were used in the film. Jimmy Stewart gives another standout performance and I enjoyed Ernest Borgnine in a limited role. Overall it was a great classic film.
