Jackhammer's Horror Corner (dance, genre, American, French, reviews)

Great review of Re-animator, Jackhammer. I love this film, and first saw it when it came out in the eighties. It turned me onto Lovecraft's writing and I have been a huge fan ever since!!

A nice follow up to this would be From Beyond, or Dreams in the Witchhouse from season one of Masters of Horror, both directed by Stuart Gordon!

From Beyond has'nt held up too well except Barbra Crampton on stockings and suspenders lol. Dreams In A witch house is excellent and did you notice the guys T-Shirt? lol However the first episode 'Cigarette Burns' is brilliant but not sure whether these warrant full blown reviews.

Agreed. I had to review The Masters of Horror for the website I review for (I won't name it here lest I be labelled a spammer) but I did them as box sets of six episode a piece, and Imprint separately, of course.

The Corpse Grinders (1972)
Just watched this today. It has a great premise: a cat food manufacturer has been grinding up the recently dead to help cut costs on cat food ingredients and now house cats are starting to crave human flesh and attack their owners. Unfortunately the premise is about all this movie has going for it. I was expecting a tongue-in-cheek campfest but it wasn't that really, more of a z-grade snoozefest unfortunately. It had it's moments but overall I can't really recommend it.

Unfortunately that's the case for most horror flicks I've seen in the last few years. Like that steaming pile of crap which moviegoers call 'Quarantine' for example

Quarantine is awful. However i thoroughly recommend REC, the Spanish original. Its only like a year old itself and is worth watching for the ending alone.

While I have no real problem with remakes, I do despise how quick some things are getting remade... it's only a matter of time before a remake gets released before the original.
