Man, it must be me or something. I always find Fallout games very difficult. I'm only level 5 and I've already ran into a big fuck off Super Mutant in the Wasteland with a missile launcher, and all I have is a bloody hunting rifle.

Anyway in terms of atmosphere the game definitely lives up to it's predessors, Galaxy Radio is awesome.

Change the difficulty in the options menu, i had to.

If you have the hunting rifle in good condition, two shots to the head will knock down most super mutants

that's how i got my missile launcher at level 3. mind you i had a sawed off shotgun instead of a hunting rifle (only got the rifle last night - still not level 4 either) but still, it's not that complicated to hide around a corner and shoot mutants in the arm so they can't use their heavy weapons. if you're going to be running out in the open with the rifle stay 'hidden' and keep checking your VATS to sneak a critical on their weapon arm as soon as you spot them. when fighting super mutants my shooting order is always arm / leg / head.

most of the complaints i've read in regards to the difficulty seem to stem from people seeing a first person perspective and trying to play the game like a typical shooter. the fallout games have always required gamers to think rather than twitch. dunno if it's just that i've played them too much but i find this one to be the easiest of the bunch so far.

...and the sheriff's son does NOT give me a house. i know he's 'supposed' to but none of the dialog options result in a house for me. anyone have any suggestions on a safe location to leave my stuff at?

^Try one of the suites in "Tenpenny Tower"

or if you get a partner, he can carry as much as you can, meaning most likely you won't ever have to dump stuff off at the crib

I watched my friend play that game, looked sweet. I'll probably try to get it for the Christmas.

a co-worker tells me there's a place called 'the republic of dave' in the northeast. i am TOTALLY making that place my 'house' whenever i find it hehe

This game, plus Halo, are the reasons my boyfriend seemed almost non-existent in my life for a while.
