Bloody brilliant film. Sorry but anybody not taken aback by this doesn't know anything about film. What can I say? Best visual effects since, well I suppose A New Hope. This film is going to do a lot of good for the industry. The story, in typical James Cameron style, wasn't nessicarily it's strongest asset. But who's complaining? It's as entertaining as it is beautiful. Overbearring message? Maybe for some. And it's not a message that hasn't been sent before. But it's as strong as ever, and the other aspects of the film really make it seem fresh.

A bloody +.

I think the effect Avatar will have on cinema will be massive, in both positive and negative ways.

Positive in that, hopefully for now on other 3D films will use the same techniques that Avatar did to get it's incredible multiple fields of vision effects.

Negative in that it will unfortunately pressure more studios to make a lot of their films 3D regardless of weither they really need to be 3D or not. Apparrently Darren Aronofsky is threatening to step down from the Robocop project because producers won't stop pressuring him to implement 3D effects, which he doesn't want to to do.

Gah, I figured they'd be pushing this 3D thing into a fad. Shame, because it's potential for good use is massive.

I also think because this has been such a damn good year for sci fi, we're gonna see a huge influx of talented filmmakers signing on to sci fi projects because it's been made clear that a sci fi movie doesn't have to be f*cking retarded to be successful.

Being the sci-fi fan that I am, I was happy to see that it's making a resurgance. On television as well, Lost went in a science fiction direction (which it had also hinted at anyway) and Fringe is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.

I'm glad the Space Opera genre seems rebooted as well.

fringe is awesome...the new x files in my opinion.

i am glad movies like this can still come out...with all the nonstop pointless sequels and remakes coming out i really feel like the best way to go is with independent films. avatar was a very pleasant surprise. i don't know how james cameron does this...aliens was made in the 80s and the effects still hold up...same with terminator 2.

i just wish he wouldn't make any sequels...the message was made with one movie. sadly, he plans on making 2 more.

I have NOT seen it yet! No time

The trailers are absolutely amazing though, and I heard this morning that it's now the second highest-grossing film ever (or is well on it's way to being so.)
