Yeah, well it apparently won: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (LaPaglia), Best Actress (Armstrong), and Best Adapted Screenplay. But to be honest nobody over here really pays much attention to any Australian awards ceremonies because 1) Most of them are pretty rubbishy (like the ARIAS) and 2) Most of our culture is completely saturated with that of the US. Film buffs and people who are into cinema definitely will recognise Lantana as one of the best Australian films but most regular joes haven't even heard of it. Australian creations tend not to get a lot of recognition even in our own country which is pretty sad really.

I'll give it a crack.

1. Requiem For A Dream
A Startlingly bleak insight into the effects of social ideals on individuals and the lengths people go to to escape the pressures that accompany them. The best film from the best director of the decade IMO

2. Let The Right One In
A touching portrayal of loneliness and isolation from a nightmarish angle. Really grabbed me.

3. 13 (Tzameti)
One of the most tense cinematic experiences you're likely to encounter.

4. Waking Life
Visually innovative, this existential mind-fuck will leave you questioning your very being.

5. The Dark Knight
Transcends the superhero genre to become something so much more important and arresting. Heath Ledger's performance is sensational.

6. Into The Wild
A bittersweet journey of self-discovery, powerful and evocative.

7. Hunger
IMO the best British film of the decade. Shocking and stark.

8. Amelie
It just makes you fall in love with life.

9. Paranormal Activity
Despite the hype, no other film has unnerved me so much this decade.

10. The Diving Bell and The Butterfly
Possibly the most depressing film i've ever seen.

Sorry for the decrease in review quality as the list progressed, became very tired mid way through.

Very nice choices, I love most of those movies apart from a couple which I haven't seen. Candy was ridiculously sad, especially since I watched it after Heath Ledger's passing away. Pretty sure I cried.

That movie Candy was so boring to me. Maybe I should try it again since he has passed.

Oh hell yes! I love Disney flicks, and thats one of my favorites.
I am so indecisive.I have a solid three that are in the top ten, but then about 20 movies that can shuffle to fill the other 7. Ill start with the first few that pop into my head, then edit the rest as they come to me.

It's kind of weird though as most of those movies are insanely bleak and depressing. 2:37 takes depressing to a new level but hey it is still a good movie.

Speaking of depressing, 'Mysterious Skin' was out this decade. Anyone ever watch that? Almost unbearable to sit through at times because of how disturbing it can be. Great movie though, very challenging watch.

Kill Bill (We will count them as one whole movie)

The Dark Knight (It was the decade of Comic Movies and this was the best)

Old Boy (How could any list not have this)

Children of Men (The Camera Shots alone put this on the list)

A Very Long Engagement (One of the best WWI films in a LONG LONG time)

Pan's Labyrinth ( Ummm Fantasy mixed with Adult violence and its beautiful)

Red Cliff 1 and 2 (HOLY **** JOHN WOO wasn't ruined my America)

O Brother, where art thou? ( the Coen Brothers Deserve a place on the list)

American Psycho ( This is one of my Favorites that I can watch over and over, its just pure crazy)

Band of Brothers ( I know its TV, but really its Movie Quality x10, I can watch this all the way through and put it back in and watch the whole 10 hours over again.

Ok i just realized there is no way I could make a top 10..... This is a just a list of movies that came to my head first.
