It's the same as RYM's top prog album being Dark Side of the Moon. People complain as if its RYM's choice when in actual fact it's just the case that so many people have it and have rated it that it's inevitable.

Anyway, i had never heard of this site before but i'm liking it. I don't read as much as I should though. It makes me feel guilty when I go through all the books I own, add them to my account and then mark so many of them as "To read."

Correct, but Twilight receiving almost 4 stars is the equivalent of "My World 2.0" receiving almost 4 stars on rateyourmusic. They're both immensely "popular", but I think most people who are informed about music/literature would agree that they're both immensely mediocre or even terrible.

True, but there's a fundamental difference here: DSOTM is pretty universally acclaimed by most of its professional critics in addition to its "regular" fans. Twilight, though it may have teeming masses of preteen fangirls, is generally shat upon by those who analyze its content and author critically.

But you just said it yourself, it's popular. If its popular then more people have read it, more people will rate it and more people will rate it highly. Its the people rating it, it has nothing to do with the site.

Well, when I said "goodreads has no credibility", I simply meant the people using goodreads have no credibility.

Any of you guys and gals on goodreads ever entered the giveaways to win books?

About a week ago, I just went through and entered for every single book I thought was interesting, probably about fifty different giveaways, and apparently won nine books!

I'm most excited that I won a copy of Chuck Klosterman's new book; I saw it at the bookstore, noticed it was fiction, but wasn't about to shell out $25 when I still needed to eat. The copy I actually won is paperback, so it'd not have been $25, but still. It's just now being released in paperback.

Got two in the mail so far:
A signed copy of Columbus Avenue Boys by David Carraturo, which I'm reading now, and an Advance Reader's Copy of a YA book. The latter looks really awesome.
