Default MB's Video Game Classics [Metal Gear Solid Week]: Metal Gear Solid 1

I really do need to dive into the older Metal Gear Solid games because this is one I simply have not played, but man I have really wanted to. I know a lot of people really love it.

5/5 for nostalgia and multiple replayability.

How have you not played this?

This game is awesome. Really changed the way I saw games and probably the way games were made as a whole.

Obviously a 5 though it needs a remake in HD for PS4 maybe with the first three as a package.

Great game. Loved the stealth aspect and the surprise alert is instantly recognizable as MGS. I got pretty far in, but don't think I ever finished it. 4/5.

Hideo Kojima is not half as interesting as people make him out to be. Stealth action is cool, but then there's the rambly cut scenes. Ugh.

****ing love the atmosphere of this game, but I'd like it if someone made a version with the story taken out of the game entirely. Less inane blah blah = better.

Kojima is brilliant and the cut scenes are great I could not disagree with you more. The story is part of its appeal and why 5 was a disappointment for me.

Metal Gear Solid 1 was the first game I played that was like a playable film. Some of the stuf in it was ridiculous for it's time. Checking the code on the back of the game case, the Psycho Mantis battle where you have to switch the control port. It's a really clever, landmark game.

10/10 tbh as were 2 and 3.
