There's a band I really don't really talk about that much, but I always find myself going back to them whenever I feel the mood is right. I'm speaking of The Pineapple Thief. I'll just be honest, they do seem to be influenced heavily by The Smashing Pumpkins, but something about Billy Corgan that doesn't really sit well with me, vocally. The Pineapple Thief are different in that sense where it has the sounds that I like with a not too bad vocalist to mix it all together into one very good sounding group.

I remember the first album I ever heard from them, which simultaneously blew me away, and I instantly became a fan.

Little Man

I don't really think I can say which song is my favorite when I find something special in each track. But if I were to choose perhaps two songs that would be a pretty good place to start in terms of understanding what the band has to offer, I'd say...

Of course, upon searching those songs up on Youtube, I realized that I can't exactly leave this post the way it is without mentioning another song from an entirely different album of theirs. Two albums in one post? Yeah, sue me. Come on! Do it! Anyway, back to my point. There is another album that I want to mention, and that is...

Someone Here Is Missing

I will be honest and say that this probably isn't listened to as much as it should be. I've given it a full listen I think 2 or 3 times, but there are a lot of tracks that standout and really deliver a powerful performance, one of which being...

Spoiler for video:

This song just really stands out as being one of their finest on the entire album, and I could just be completely biased. It starts off with a really cool electronica-techno feel but then it gets into the electric guitar and everything else. It's got a mixture, but it's mixed so well and goes even better with the vocals and whatever else. Definitely worthy of a listen or two.

I went searching for a specific track off of the Pokemon X soundtrack and I ended up finding something amazing. It was a few tracks from Pokemon Origins. I had no idea there was even a soundtrack for it, but I was just amazed. It just takes the original tracks from the original Pokemon games and just makes them so blow your head off badass.

I've been wanting to see what this show is like, but now this gives me more of a reason to check it out.

Paradise Lost have really managed to make a good impression with me lately. I was only familiar with them from the song No Celebration and I kept telling myself I needed to hear more of them because I really liked what I heard from that one song. And so I decided it'd be good to give a couple of their other records a listen.

Recently I heard Believe In Nothing. It's a very cool album and from what I can tell, really captures what the band is about. Although at this time, I haven't given their other albums a listen quite yet minus Symbol of Life which is where No Celebration is from. Tonight is a different album as well, as I have decided to give Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us a listen, and again, I am really diggin' what i'm hearing. I'm honestly shocked that I didn't get into these guys sooner, since they're right up my alley.

Just a fun fact, apparently Paradise Lost have had Devin Townsend as a special guest. That alone is reason enough for me to really hit myself over the head for not giving them a listen sooner. So far, there is nothing to complain about with this band.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Love Beach
  • Holy crap that album art is just awful.
  • Not a single song on this album is worth listening to.
  • "Oh hey, this is Emerson, Lake, and Palmer so it might be good." is what I said thinking this would be a good album.
  • "Can I have my money back?" is what I said upon returning said album.
  • I imagine ELP we're thinking "hey, we're popular, let's bring back the Beach Boys style."
  • Did I mention this album is just awful?
  • Well it is, it's just awful.
  • The only reason someone would buy this album is to use the little booklet inside to use as spare toilet paper.

Yep one of the worst albums to be ever recorded by so-called esteemed artists, it's so bad that everybody needs to hear it.

Always thought they were going for a more Bee Gees look myself...

That guy on the left is working some serious moose knuckle. Never cared for ELP myself.

I forgot how much I love This Town Needs Guns. I also forgot how much I miss listening to math rock.

Such a cool genre and is far more intellectual than people give it credit for.
