Strapping Young Lad - Strapping Young Lad

Very simplistic, but it just looks like someone beat the crap out of a bird, or something with feathers. Not super terrifying, but it gets the job done.

Yes, I am being a rather negative nancy as the Christmas season inches it's way closer and closer, and for good reason. I don't see why spending a lot of money on people you hardly talk to is worth celebrating. Makes me want to go die in a fire just to get away from it all. That's the theme of this section is "death" within death metal, or heavy metal, or whatever.

Now You've Got Something To Die For

What could possibly fit this section any better than a song titled such as this. Fantastic track from an also fantastic band, as well as a fantastic album. Satan would be proud.

Are You Dead Yet?

Most likely a question you will ask those around you that you just don't care about around this time of year. Really, why are you dead yet?

Doom Over Dead Man

Don't really have a lot to say about this one. It's a fantastic track.

Satan has still got some fantastic death metal up his sleeve. Some of it well known, some of it not well known. I guess his minions in Hell have been doing some serious digging. They found a band by the name of Before The Dawn. Guess they must've found it before the dawn, eh? eh? No-one? Bueler?

Anyway...

Satan: "This album is titled Rise of the Phoenix. It's got a very consistent groove and the vocalist is fantastic. Don't ask me about any of their other albums seeing as I have not listened to them yet. My minions down here decided this album was the one I should listen to first, and hey, they know my taste very well.

This is one of the best tracks on the album in my opinion. It's a song that just punches you in the face.

What do you think of that, Santa?"

Santa: "Where are the reindeer? Where are the jingle bells? I understand that this is death metal, but c'mon Satan, do you really think you're going to win me over? I can agree though that this song does have a nice groove, and the vocalist although scary does seem to know what he's doing. I don't see myself listening to this band too often, unless they incorporate some sort of Christmas cheer into their music. I know you're just itching for a rating, so here you go..."

I regret to inform any readers that once 2015 rolls around, I will be taking a break from here. It's nothing personal, just need to let my mind relax and come up with some great ideas for the new year. Don't worry, i'll still be taking care of the MusicBanter Awards, but once that's all done, i'll be away from here. Like I said, nothing personal.

Anyway, new post soon following the Christmas theme.

You mean away from your journal, or the site in general? Either way, you'll be missed.

Santa: Hello, boys and girls, I am here once again to request yet another album that has to do with Christmas and the wonders of the holidays. Satan tricked me last time by combining his silly death metal with Christmas. I let it slide this time, but I am really looking for something a little more cheerful and Christmas-y. C'mon, Satan, level with me here, I want something better than what you provided last time.

Satan: Well, Santa, today is once again your lucky day, because I do have something for you. I know you've heard Amon Amarth before, I must have shown them to you a while back, well, they have a special little Christmas treat hidden away. It's only one song, but it does come with a pretty sweet album cover.

I told you I had something for you, Santa.

Santa: I don't understand where you find this stuff, but I am still not convinced that death metal is where all the Christmas cheer is. Keep trying, silly little hell breather.

I totally understand where you're coming from, Ki. This is possibly something similar to what I went through in May; you get to the point where you're feeling all of this is a bit too much and you need to take a break, get away from it all so you can (if you want to) come back to it fresh again. And nobody deserves a break more than you. You do recall I awarded yours the hardest working journal award last year? Believe me, this is the best thing you can do. I speak from experience here.

Have a great rest and of course a wonderful Christmas. As Pet_Sounds says, you will be missed, but we understand.

Pretty much exactly what it is. I feel a nice break will allow me to make this journal even stronger in the coming year. I don't wanna go into it half-assed. Writing is a passion of mine, so I want to do everything I can to make it work as well as I can. Definitely appreciate the kind words.

Yes, from the site. As I mentioned, it's just so that I can come into the new year fully loaded with great content in my journal.

As some are already aware, i'm taking a bit of an extended break from here. I have mentioned that it's nothing personal, but i'm finding that my interest isn't up to par in terms of what I want my journal to be like, and my overall presence on the forum. I've handed the torch off to Pet Sounds in regards to the Member Awards, because unfortunately, I was unable to put 100% of my effort into getting the nominations tallied up. He did it very well and it'll still be great. Anyway, i'm posting here now to let people know not to expect journal entries for a while, but I want there to be a post explaining why that is, and this is that.

So, i'll see you guys in the new year.
