Praying for peace and comfort to you, Hanna and Lloyd's family.
Thank you so much ribs. I have a few more stories to tell through this week of remembering. It's really cathartic and helps to give me a focus on things. Much love to you my friend.

Remembering Lloyd, Part 3:

In 2012 my lady friend was diagnosed with cancer. She went through a few months of chemo and would be drained and just generally miserable all the while trying to live life as best she could under the circumstances. One day she decided to head over to Lloyds with me to listen to the evenings jam session, which happened every once in a while, but this was to get her out of the house and lift her spirits a bit. At some point in the evening Lloyd came out from somewhere in his house holding a box. He handed it to my lady friend and grinningly explained that "This is a box of smiles for you". It was just a decorative box, but the meaning behind it was so priceless and beautiful, and that was just how Lloyd was, always trying to help people out in the most interesting ways. Years later, when Lloyd was going through dialysis, and my lady friend had had a clean bill of health for quite a few years, she offered the Box Of Smiles back to him. He respectfully declined the generous offer and explained that it was her actual smiles that kept him in a happy place, and because of that he didn't require such things. She keeps it close to her heart and will always cherish that memory.

Remembering Lloyd, Parts 4 & 5:

For Part 4, I was thinking of telling the story of Lloyd's adventures in Jamaica, but after some serious thought, I wouldn't want to put anything out here that he might have considered private and told in confidence. I'll only say that he had a home there, where he would spend 6 months out of the year. He did this for decades and had quite a few friends and even family there. There are some crazy, unbelievable stories he's told me of those times, and I've even looked few of them up in the local Gazette news paper from there, and sure enough there they were. lol What a legend.

For Part 5, I wanted to leave it all on a bit of a history note. Lloyds Uncle was the Mayor of the town next to where he lived many years ago. Being a church going man, he had strong opinions about Lloyd and his brothers and friends lifestyles. Like something out of an old movie, there was Lloyd and his brothers and friends with long hair, riding Harleys, and playing "that Rock and Roll music", and then there was his Uncle Mayor who despised all of that and would chase them out of town. Lots of yarns spun with that plot setting, and then years later, and unknown to me until even more years later, the town decided to pay tribute to Lloyds Uncle Mayor by installing a Disc Golf course. It bares the same namesake too. I play it all the time and have been for years. Lloyd got a real kick out of that, and every once in a while, when we'd sit down together for a visit, I'd take a little time... let the silence settle in a bit... and then quietly say... "I played Doogan today". He'd smile that smile that lets you know, you're with a true friend. I think I'll go play.

Life sure is strange some days. I've been looking for a MinDisc player all week, and as soon as I submitted the above post I got a ding on my phone for a notification that a disc golf friend of mine has one for me. I'll be ripping all of these down to PC, they're recordings of Lloyd and me. I think I have to do it in real time, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I really don't mind.

I was able to track down an MD player to hear my friend again. I have quite a few hours of recordings to get through and hopefully find a few gems. Here's a small sample of what I've found so far:

I used to run home from school to listen to this absolute gem of an album. It still takes me back to those days in the 70's.
