1977

10. Jacques Brel - Brel [Les marquises]
9. Ramones - Rocket to Russia
8. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
7. Kraftwerk - Trans Europa Express
6. Iggy Pop - Lust for Life
5. Talking Heads - Talking Heads: 77
4. Wire - Pink Flag
3. Pink Floyd - Animals
2. David Bowie - Low
1. Television - Marquee Moon

I think it's fair to say that this quite a selection of albums. And whilst it's probably the most predictable list I have posted so far, you can't take away from the sheer quality of most of these records. The peak of post-punk, in my opinion at least, comes in the form of Marquee Moon. My absolute favourite Bowie and Pink Floyd records also get a nod.

Overall, this is just a fantastic year for me, and the albums I had to leave out only add to it's strength.

I agree, my birth year is pretty fantastic. Definitely with you on the Fleetwood Mac, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd and Television albums, though I would also have included the first Suicide album, Harry Nilsson's Knnillssonn, and Iggy Pop's The Idiot.

I would add Billy Joel's The Stranger. Solid list, though.

1978

10. Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
9. Buzzcocks - Love Bites
8. Blondie - Parallel Lines
7. Japan - Adolescent Sex
6. Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Scream
5. Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!
4. Magazine - Real Life
3. Public Image Ltd. - Public Image - First Issue
2. Tom Waits - Blue Valentine
1. Wire - Chairs Missing

Feeling quite sad that I have to leave off The Cars self titles, but that's the way it goes when there's so many great albums to choose from. What can I say about Chairs Missing? Phenomenal stuff. A few other post-punk classics in there too. Blondie still hovering around my lists like a fantastic smell. My dude Waits with his highest placed finish on these lists so far, with one of his more "underrated" albums in my opinion. Its probably my second favourite of his actually. Really really good year for me.

1979

10. Swell Maps - A Trip to Marineville
9. The Residents - Eskimo
8. The Clash - London Calling
7. Teenage Jesus & the Jerks - Teenage Jesus and the Jerks
6. This Heat - This Heat
5. PiL - Metal Box
4. Codona - Codona
3. Wire - 154
2. Gang of Four - Entertainment!
1. The Fall - Live at the Witch Trials

No if's, and's or but's, this is my favourite year so far. Three 5* masterpieces at the top, and loaded with amazing albums top to bottom. The fact that Fear of Music and Y didn't even manage to sneak a place speaks volumes to the quality on show. Not much needs to be said really, all awesome albums.

1980

10. Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
9. The Clash - Sandinista!
8. The Photos - The Photos
7. The Jam - Sound Affects
6. Prince - Dirty Mind
5. Joy Division - Closer
4. The Sound - Jeopardy
3. Circle Jerks - Group Sex
2. Killing Joke - Killing Joke
1. Swell Maps - ...In "Jane From Occupied Europe"

Pretty decent I suppose. The bottom four aren't really all-time favourites, or albums I listen to with any regularity these days, but solid albums nonetheless. Prince is probably quite unlucky here as it's probably my personal favourite of his, but the albums above are truly great. Gotta love the post-punk love-fest. So yeah, overall it's a good year but not one of my best.

1981

10. Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Penguin Cafe Orchestra
9. Section 25 - Always Now
8. Black Flag - Damaged
7. Gang of Four - Solid Gold
6. Adolescents - Adolescents
5. Killing Joke - What's THIS For...!
4. Medium Medium - The Glitterhouse
3. This Heat - Deceit
2. X - Wild Gift
1. The Church - Of Skins and Heart

This is one of those middle ground years for me. It doesn't contain any of my 5* rated albums, but it is solid all the way through and every album is worthy of a place on the list. I absolutely love the Top 3 albums for sure, and weirdly enough that Church album isn't even my favourite of theirs (though it is higher placed in it's Top 10 than my favourite).

Deceit isn't a five star album? What the hell is wrong with you?
