I'm always looking forward to the seasonal sales for Steam, because my wish list throughout the year just tends to get longer and longer as time goes on. Sometimes i'll splurge and pay full price for a game if i'm interested enough in it, but sometimes it's always nice to get that notification that reads "a game on your wish list is currently on sale", and I instantly go and buy it. The summer sale for this year is no exception. I can't even begin to tell you how many games I bought, well....I mean, I could, because i'm going to talk about it. The summer sale this year be it not great towards the end, was definitely one that I enjoyed quite a bit when it started. A lot and I mean a lot of games were going on sale through the time this sale was going on, and a lot of my favorite games were on the sale. So, i'll just mention a few that I got and am happy to have got:

Fallout 3

I wasn't too surprised to see that this went on sale almost as soon as the Fallout 4 news came to light. This game wasn't necessarily part of the summer sale, but i'm including it because it was put on sale a few days before the sale started, and I picked it up, so whatever. It works. I haven't played too much of it since I got it, but I plan to go back to it eventually.

Oblivion

I've always been very curious about Oblivion, because a lot of people say they prefer this over Skyrim, which I can fully understand due to the insane amount of hours most people have put into this one. I however have put in a total of 7 minutes, due to me buying it on the sale and never touching it again. It's not necessarily a bad game, I just haven't been in the right mood to play it. It's nothing to do with the graphics or anything like that, I just have to be in a certain mood for it. Happy to have picked it up though, as I know i'll have fun with it.

Braid

This game is ****ing awesome, and i've been interested in it ever since I saw a Youtuber playthrough it. The concept is unique, the graphics and artwork are fantastic, and it's been a game i've wanted for a while. It was an instant buy when I saw it go on sale.

Dishonored

So, i've already beat this game about 2 times, both being different styles of play, and i'm still loving it. By far one of the best games I found through the summer sale, and there has not been a day where I haven't expressed my excitement about this game. The graphics are top notch, the fact that you can play through the game multiple times in different ways are just awesome, and the story is really really well written. The voice acting is great, and it's just an all around fun game. I've already put 15 hours into it, but I got a little burned out due to playing it all the time. I plan to 100% this one because I want to be fully prepared for when Dishonored 2 came out. A hidden gem for me, but certainly one that has caught the eyes of many people, and now I see why.

My current video game addiction:

I picked up Nuclear Throne perhaps a week ago now and it's been the only thing on my mind when it comes to video games. I get into these weird "addiction" type deals where when I play a game so much that I almost tire myself out and get burned out really fast, but then I come back to it weeks later and realize why I put so much time into it. From when I started to now, I've noticed an incredible increase in the skill in myself that it takes to play these type of games. If you've ever played Nuclear Throne, you'd understand that the game only gets harder once you get past the first floor, but man it really does get satisfying once you start to see all the cool weapon combinations and things like that. There's really a lot going on that I hadn't noticed before, like once you get to the further levels, they start to add certain elements to weapons that you've already gotten used to, but making them different at the same time. Say you want to use a shotgun as your primary weapon, so you pick one up, you get used to the way it shoots, and you love it. Well, go down a few floors and you may run into something called a lightning shotgun. It's basically a shotgun that shoots out "force lightning" bolts as opposed to the bullets or shells, and it's just badass. It helps out a lot when you're in a huge group of enemies and the last thing on your mind is inflicting damage on yourself, yes that is a thing, they have grenade launchers and rocket launchers, what do you expect? Anyway, i've certainly seen myself get better at playing, and i've even been watching all of Northernlion's videos on them, because he does a 'daily' Nuclear Throne run and him being one of my favorite Youtubers, he makes them very entertaining and interesting, and I do actually learn a lot from watching him play. I wouldn't say I play in the style as other people do just to be good, but it's always interesting to see how other people do in certain situations especially in a rogue like game.

All in all, even though this game is early access, it's a great game and has really caught me by surprise at how good it actually is. The developers do actively update it and I'm more than excited to see what the final product will look like.

I heard fallout 4 was coming out but i haven't seen any shots of the game but im still pumped we are getting a fallout 4.

Im one of those ppl that prefer Oblivion over Skyrim.
To be fair Skyrim is a way better game but Oblivion imo has a better navigation menu and more options when it came to spell crafting, you can spell buff the sh*t outta your character in that game.

If Skyrim had kept the magic system Oblivion had Skyrim would've been alot better.

I don't really know which one I like better since I haven't put a whole bunch of time into Oblivion yet, but I've heard in a lot of ways that Oblivion is better than Skyrim. I've enjoyed Skyrim for the most part but i'm nowhere near the 1000 hour mark that most people are with that game.

Ki, is this the first time that you've played Fallout 3? I noticed that you said that you're playing it and if you are how are you finding it? I'm currently playing it myself as well.

As much as I played so far, which isn't much, I'm enjoying it. I think the gameplay is fantastic and the graphics are great. The missions are fun too.

The game and the amount of locations are amazing, it like goes on forever if you start doing loads of the smaller missions. Out of interest what type of character are you working towards in terms of skills? and in terms of weapons are you going with small guns, energy weapons, melee or big guns?

I'm a fan of small guns. I haven't really done much in skills as I havent played much but in RPGs in general, I focus a lot of dex and strength.

So, i've finally done it. I've finally finished my first playthrough of Outlast. If you know me, this is a pretty big deal, since i've been saying for ages that I want to man up and finally get through my first playthrough, well i've done it. I have to say, it feels really good to finally see the "Punished" achievement in the list of achievements for this game. The ending and the story itself were both just fantastic. The last part of the game did get less scary but the story that was being told made up for it. To anyone who is thinking of playing this game, definitely check it out. I'm actually currently playing through the Whistleblower DLC as well, and it's probably scarier than the regular story, but it's really cool to get to experience the story before your character gets to the asylum where the regular game takes place. Anyway, that's all I have to say.
