Cunning Stunts by Cows

Year: 1992

In a flurry of post-Pussy Galore noise/blues fusion, Cows played rampant music that could easily be played at a bar during a game of billiards and opening for Melvins the like. Basically, imagine Mudhoney playing to their distortion limits and you're spot on to this release. Full of cool blues riffs and noise (almost Melvins-esque sludge), it almost sounds contradicting but the coolness and aggression balance out so well. Needless to say, it's a really fun album, and there's nothing wrong with that.

9/10
Cunning Stunts is an amazing testament to Cows....but Sexy Pee Story is their opus

Planning on reviewing that at some point or another.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Keep You by Pianos Become the Teeth
[Adding photo later]
Year: 2014

Remember that Tiger's Jaw album from a few pages ago? Imagine that 10x warmer and more blankety. Beautiful.

10/10

Harmlessness by The World Is a Beautiful Place and I am No longer Afraid to Die
[Again here]
Year: 2015

Maybe it's because I was coming down with something when I listened to this or something else but this just didn't hit me the same way Whenever If Ever (or Between Bodies (which despite what everyone says I find to be a great EP) for that matter) did. Planning on giving it a relisten at some point due to this.

6/10

Songs About the Weather by Basement
[Again here again]
Year: 2010

Being the first major release by the band, this is definitely essential if you want to see their progression from then to now. All the hallmarks of the band of here, again bridging the gap between Deftone's Saturday Night Wrist and Title Fight's Shed. It's dreamy at times, and sounds closer to raging skate punk at others. Really cool release, but not incredible seeing what their capable of on their debut album.

7/10

I quite enjoyed Harmlessness. I think it's just because it hit this chord with me that few bands hit and that is when I was a 15 year old mall rat emo kid. I still like that chord sometimes.

Like I said, I wasn't in great condition when I listened to this. I'll be returning to it at some point because I don't doubt anything TWIABP does.

I'm gonna try some of these, starting with Cows. I think listening to a post-hardcore/noise rock album can help me get into noise rock.

As bob noted earlier, start with Sexy Pee Story.

Nah. Cunning Stunts was awesome. I agree it's a 9/10 album.

It definitely is, but Sexy Pee Story is so awesome that we have to make up words that can appropriately define it, like marnificous.
