yeah cairo is crazy, even crazier than istanbul. crossing the street over there is a serious test of wills. you just gotta walk straight and at a steady pace and never look any of the drivers in the eye and trust that they'll swerve, which they do. Over here the traffic isnt as crazy, but they don't swerve, you just gotta run out of the way, more like playing frogger :D

Didn't see a damned thing, we worked every day 'till 9pm, then went for dinner in some super fancy restaurants and back to the hotel. I don't really care though, sightseeing is better in theory than in practice. It was a massive headtrip just being in a city that size. The people, the traffic, the architecture. I've never been outside of Europe so this was very very different, and I'm grateful to have experienced it. :)

haha, i love travelling, but yeah sometimes it's very difficult, and egypt is not an easy place to travel to. Middle east is gonna be awesome (leaving in a month for eastern turkey, syria, jordan, lebanon, israel and egypt). what made cairo "quite the trip"? sounds interesting.

right now I'm actually kind of going away from photojournalism as a career. the industry is still struggling at the moment, and its super super competitive. when i was in it, it was just constant stress and worry and I'm just not committed enough to dedicate my whole life to it, which is what Id need to do. Now I'm getting into the teaching thing for the next few years, after that going back to uni to get a degree in development studies, then a career with ngo's and nonprofits. might come back to work in the middle east or i might try to go to africa, i'll figure it out when i get there.

Holy **** I have to stop staying up when I take sleeping pills, the level of retardation is quite unparalleled,

Anyhow, this is pretty much what I wrote on my own profile page, under the influence, unintelligible slurring omitted.

"Exhausted. Just got back from Cairo. T'was quite a trip (in more ways than one), even though I didn't get a chance to sight-see."

But yeah, I have no idea how or why you like to travel so much, this sh!t be hard! Granted, it's probably a lot better/more fun when you're not time-constricted and/or there to do work (which you're not particularly fond of yeah, I'm sure you'll be equally as excited to go wherever when you get that awesome photojournalism job thing, if that's still your goal).

Life here's been awesome! well aside from the past couple weekends with the hospital visits, flus, flea infestations and trying to track down a fumigator. but aside from the odd annoyances, it's fun as hell. hows you?
