Good song, but I don't think I can share the amazement of the people commenting on that video.
I prefer listening to my 60s Psych Garage albums.
However, can this turn out to be a sign of change, somehow ?

I think I'll just request it from one of the many pirated DVD shops... I just need to have some time to go there. I'll try streaming for now, though I'm quite sure it would need more than a day of buffering.

well i seem to remember you saying your web connection was rubbish, so streaming probably isn't an option, unless you are prepared to leave it to buffer for a few hours.

lol yeah. We'll have to search more for Unis in the UK. Let's see in 2 years. About "The Wicker Man", I've been trying to get hold of the old one for more than a year now, but I never was able to find any copy.

OH. and 'the Wicker Man'. As for your friend & LFA... good luck to them! I'd never try and get in to a place like that, but then I don't want to be a filmmaker =P

I think I only watched 10% of those films... very embarrassing lol. I'm not even familiar with the 3 films you stated (maybe Alfie, but only the remake). My friend has been thinking of joining the London Film Academy, which made me think of it too. Very hard to get accepted though. Any thoughts about it?

Almodovar is definitely a love-or-hate director. I've watched 8 of his movies, and I think only 2 of them were very impressive: Habla con ella (Talk to her) and Matador. He does over-use the 'raging-homo' card. It feels like we're back to Shakespeare's days, when all female parts were played by male actors. Like in every film, when you see a female character, it's either a transsexual or a transvestite. It just becomes funny at the end, like we'll be betting on every character's gender "10$, if it's a male dressed as a showgirl!". I usually win. :D

Okay, as for British films, this is what the British Film Institute (BFI) thinks, they have restored alot of greats (all my Kurosawa DVDs are BFI =P) and definitely know what they're talking about.. It's like the Criterion of the UK. Although some of the films there should be avoided. haha. My first recommendations would be Powell & Pressburger's 'Black Narcissus', 'Alfie' (which you've probably seen) annnnd 'Billy Liar'. We have produced some good social realist stuff and some other assorted domestic genre films. All the great directors debunk to Hollywood! If you liked 'Happy Go Lucky' watch that director's 'Secret & Lies', which is pretty much the archetypal Leigh film - i.e. depressing as fuck - but amazingly acted.
