I've heard a couple of tracks from Opeth before, not the biggest fan in the world but I do enjoy them. I might give the new album a spin and see what I think. If I like it I'll start collecting their back catalog as well.

It's almost been a year since this album's come out and I have to say it's been the least listened to Opeth album I have. It's got nothing to do with ditching their heavy sound, I mean I love Damnation, but that album was more hypnotic, Heritage is more eclectic. While having an eclectic sound can help some bands like Mr. Bungle, I listen to them for that random mess of noise, when I listen to Opeth it's for different reasons, and their progressive influences aren't always one of those reasons. I hope the band does bring back some of their older influences on their next release.

Same, I have it stored but I can't remember where, it's good but not memorable. Oh well I'll put on Morningrise

There's going to be a round two of shows with Katatonia again!!! With hints at bringing back a heavier set, meaning they're going to give back to us after ****ing us all over with a Bloodbath encore at only one show last tour!!!

For me Opeth is an 'multigenres' band, so I don't look at their discography as an entirety. "Damnation" and "Heritage" are albums which cannot be compared to the rest, and both are excellent. From the others, my favourite are "Deliverance" and "Watershed"

I think it's a very interesting album worth of discovering many times.

I think Heritage is a good album - it's not terrible but there are more 'okay' tracks than 'holy ****ing ****' tracks. Opeth isn't my favorite band but I discovered them a pretty good while back and grew obsessions with a couple of their more popular songs.
