*The Moody Blues: Nights in White Satin.

*Alan Parsons Project
: Eye in the Sky. Love song? Anti-love song? Stalking song? I'm not sure about it, but I've always liked this song. Noa's cover is not bad.

*Love of Lesbian: Allí donde solíamos gritar ("That Place Where We Used to Scream"). Ambivalence, once again.

"¿A que no sabes dónde he vuelto hoy? ................................ Bet you don't know where I went back today:
Donde solíamos gritar. ................................ back to the place where we used to scream.
Diez años antes de este ahora sin edad, ................................ Ten years before this ageless present,
aún vive el monstruo y aún no hay paz. ................................ the monster lives and peace still hasn't come.

Y en los bancos que escribimos ................................ And on the benches on which we wrote,

medio a oscuras, sin pensar, ................................ in the half-light, without thinking,
todos los versos de 'Heroes' ................................ all the lyrics from ‘Heroes’
con las faltas de un chaval, ................................ with the spelling mistakes of ours.
aún están. ................................ Yeah, they're still there.

Y aún hoy ................................ And still now,

se escapa a mi control, ................................ it continues to escape my control,
problema y solución, ................................ the problem and solution,
y es que el grito siempre acecha, ................................ 'cos the scream always lies beneath,
es la respuesta. ................................ yeah, it's the answer.

Y aún hoy ................................ And still now,

sólo el grito y la ficción ................................ only screams and make-believe,
consiguen apagar ................................ succeed in extinguishing,
las luces de mi negra alerta. ................................ the lights of my black alert.

Tengo un cuchillo y es de plástico, ................................ I have a knife that's made of plastic,

donde solía haber metal, ................................ where there used to be metal.
y el libro extraño que te echó de párvulos; ................................ and that strange book that got you expelled from nursery,
sus hojas tuve que incendiar. ................................ I had to burn every page.

Y en los hierros que separan ................................ And on those iron bars that separate us

la caída más brutal ................................ from the most awful fall
siguen las dos iniciales ................................ remain the two intials
que escribimos con compás. . ................................ we scribed with a compass.
Ahí están. ................................ Yeah, they're still there.

Vertical y transversal, ................................ Vertical and transversal,

soy grito y soy cristal, ................................ I'm a scream and I'm crystal,
justo el punto medio, ................................ exactly halfway inbetween,
el que tanto odiabas ................................ the fact you used to hate so much,
cuando tú me repetías que ................................ when you repeated to me that
"te hundirá y me hundirá, ................................ "it'll tear you apart and it'll tear me apart,
y solamente el grito nos servirá." ................................ and we'll only keep it together by screaming."
Decías "es fácil" y solías empezar. ................................ You said "it's easy" and then you used to begin.

Y es que el grito siempre vuelve, ................................ And the scream always returns,

y con nosotros morirá, ................................ and with us it will die,
frío y breve como un verso ................................ cold and brief like a line
escrito en lengua animal. ................................ written in an animal language.
Y siempre está. ................................ And it's always there.

Te hundirá y me hundirá ................................ It'll tear you apart and it'll tear me apart,

y solamente el grito nos servirá. ................................ and we'll only keep it together by screaming,
Y ahora no es fácil; ................................ and now it's not so easy,
tú solías empezar. ................................ 'cos you used to begin.

Vertical y transversal, ................................ Vertical and transversal,

soy grito y soy cristal, ................................ I'm a scream and I'm crystal,
justo el punto medio, ................................ exactly halfway inbetween,
el que tanto odiabas ................................ the fact you used to hate so much,
cuando tú me provocabas aullar. ................................ when you used to provoke me to howl.

Y ya está, ya hay paz, ................................ And that's it, at last there's peace,

oh, ya hay paz. ................................ oh, at last there's peace.
Y ya está, ya hay paz, ................................ And that's it, at last there's peace,
oh, ya hay paz. ................................ oh, at last there's peace.

¿Por quién gritaba? ................................ Who were my screams for?

Lo sé y tú no; ................................ I know, you don't.
no preguntabas. ................................ You never asked,
tú nunca, no. ................................ no, you never did.

Below is a love song I like. Just ignore that it was used very effectively in a creepy movie in which the young woman does some rather terrible things to the man about whom she is obsessed! I haven't seen the movie, but the song seems to match the plot perfectly.

Breeders - "Do You Love Me Now"
This song has a pleasant slow, grinding feel to it, with the rough edges warmed and smoothed by Kim Deal's clear, silky voice. The instrumentals give the sense of there being an almost disturbing undercurrent of power behind the soft surface of the words.

Since the last song ^ I posted was a little disturbing, I decided to share a non-stalkerish love song, an '80s power ballad that I like because it is so sweet and supportive.

Cheap Trick - "If You Want My Love"
Sigh. This song sounds to me like comfort feels, so I always enjoy listening to it. I like the jangly guitars with their harp-like strumming, the pretty melody, and of course the sentiment. I remember listening to the lyrics carefully when I was a teenager while thinking, wow, could people actually feel that way? The song made me hopeful. I've read that what many women want most in a relationship is to feel desired by someone they admire who has a steadfast heart. If so, then Cheap Trick made a song to feed into that longing almost perfectly. Crafty fellows!

I never watched the video before today, though. I was surprised to see the drummer is actually smoking while playing!

Yikes! I think Kelli's "Gave Up On Love" song belongs in the http://www.musicbanter.com/pop/55727...ml#post1036813 thread, jessim, seeing as how the singer ends up killing her two-timing boyfriend with that ice-pick at the end of the video, splattering his blood around!

Not very lovey-dovey, that's for sure. People with a fondness for electrical equipment may not want to watch the video either.
