I always liked matchbox myself. My favorite songs change all the time but "Back To Good" and "Hang" are a couple im fond of.

I first heard Matchbox Twenty when my dad bought their CD. I find them to be pretty good. I actually heard them on the radio the other day.

Yourself or Someone Like You was a good album in the 90s. It was actually one of the first cds I bought when I was younger and post-grunge/alternative/soft rock (or whatever you want to call it) was really popular. I still have a playlist of them, Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, and a couple other bands I group together that I listen to every once in a while. Anyways my favorite Matchbox Twenty song would have to be 'Real World.' There's nothing particularly great about it, but I just like it for nostalgic reasons I guess, haha.

"She's So Mean" was a welcome break from Rob Thomas lyrics, which have not evolved as far as I can tell.

No, not really.

Unless you want more of the same but slightly-worse-than-before songs. "She's So Mean" is the current single, which is alright I guess. I haven't heard it enough times for it to become annoying, but it's your average soft-rock Top 40 hit that isn't particularly memorable. For me if I'm going to listen to them at all I'll just stick with the first album and select few singles after that.

I think "She's So Mean" is lyrically memorable (I can only recall a few songs by any artists that slam bad women), and its musical structure is somewhat odd in a good way. But the newer single seems lame, and frankly I wouldn't buy a Matchbox 20 album anyway. Maybe a greatest hits album eventually.

I listened to some matchbox 20 songs earlier today. I really liked their "yourself or someone like you" album and wonder why it doesn't get more recognition. The lyrics to a lot of their songs seem like their really easy for people to relate too. The melodys are pretty simple but I thought as a band they just clicked and Robs voice meshes well with the sound. Just one of those bands from when I was younger I really enjoyed and played all the time.

To be honest, YES listen to them. The sound of their music is different from what I gravitate to but some of their melodies are really beautiful and I find (from what I remember) their words to be profound.

I really like MB20, great band - really good live and great melodic guitar riffs. I would say the only thing that disappoints me with them is they take so much time between records. I think their album Mad Season is one of the best records ever made, awesome stuff, and Yourself Or Someone Like You is a good album as well.

That said, new album is still pretty good - maybe not as good as the above two records but still much better than most of the stuff that gets played on radio these days
