The only undeniable fact is whether or not I enjoy the song. I absolutely hate Hot Dog by Zeppelin. Loathe it with every fiber of my being. There's at least a half dozen MC songs I'd rather listen to than HD.

But isn't aesthetic appeal a virtue as far as pop music is concerned? Pop music by nature is somewhat shallow, so in that sense, one could argue that her voice isn't the only entertainment value that she brings to the table.

That was a big part of her initial rise to the top. First album front and back covers:

The back of her Daydream album was even more breathtaking IMO.

Let's face it, for the first half of the nineties everyone knew what she sounded like on vinyl, but pretty much anyone with a penis, and a surprising number of those without one, wanted to know what she sounded like in the throes of absolute passion. (even Linda found her hotter than hell)

Aren't we all dismissive towards things we don't like? You either fake liking something like a pussy, or you're honest with your opinion. He's not talking down to you or acting superior, he's just blunt.

It's probably my favorite thing about Frownland, and I know he won't get butthurt if I'm equally blunt about things he likes.

That's okay. I'm okay with that. I like to think I get along with everyone because I'm humble and comfortable enough to be open/respectful to differing points of view, even when I'm passionate about something. There are some exceptions of course, but Mariah Carey is not one of them.
