I think his statement about pop-punk bands only singing about trivial issues is pretty accurate. Lets look at this Queers song.

See you later fuckface
See you later fuckface
See you in the funny pages fuck you
See you later fuckface
See you later fuckface
We hate you

I get tired of hearing cookie cutter stuff like that on the radio.

It gets kinda hard to listen to song after song saying:

Spiritual seaman,
Celestial healin,
Bite down on the golden d*ck

And I'm pretty sure The D*ckies didn't sing about cool kids or girlfriends. They liked Apes and killer clowns.
I know this is basically blasphemy, but the Ramones where kinda of lame. Elevator music.

Yes, they are Pop-punk, so of course they need to appeal to thier punk base by mindlessly swearing repeatedly every now and again. Dude, I've been swearing since I was in about 4th grade, and I was one of the well behaved kids.

It takes more than saying the F word to not be 'cookiecutter'. Where's the meaning? Also, I've never heard the song so I wouldn't know about the sound itself.

so it's lame elevator music because it's not super-hardcore enough for you? obviously it's not that extreme because it's not the fukin 70's anymore but that doesn't make it bad nor any less passionate than it was then

It used to be the 70s, it's not anymore. The Ramones used to be good, they aren't anymore. They're obsolete. I feel more emotion wiping my a$$ than I do listening to the Ramones.

that sounds more like a personal problem than a reason to write off a band lots of other people are obviously able to appreciate

What, just because there are people who like the Ramones means it's not possible they suck? By that logic, there is no such thing as a terrible band, they all have at least a few fans.

I'm saying they are lame, which is not a personal feeling, it's the truth.
