In which instance did I say something that contradicted this?

Well everyone I know defines crossover genre as two genres that have crossed over. For instance rap metal is a crossover genre because its rap + metal however metal isn't really a crossover genre since its own thing. I wouldn't call the beginning of punk a crossover genre either. Unless of course you consider it a combination of garage rock and pop in which case we can get very anal and just about everything is a crossover genre.

I was reffering to 'pop-punk' as the crossover genre. You said that I didn't even know what

Way to totally acknowledge and reply to my post. How is punk a crossover genre?

Punk started out as Punk. If it started out as 'pop-punk' the word 'pop-punk' would not exist, only the work 'punk' by it's self would ever be used.

Are you basically trying to tell me 'pop-punk' is the exact same thing as 'punk' just because a couple of bands that started punk had pop elements?

The Ramones, they had some pop elements undoubtedy. The Clash, the Sex Pistols, they did not, they were punk. Just because all pure-punk may have some similarities with pop in general doesn't mean the two genres are indistinquishable.

Um but the Ramones became before the Sex Pistols or the Clash and punk has roots in pop and the Sex Pistols still used pop elements/structures, as did other first punk bands like The Buzzcocks, The Damned. The Clash were nowhere near the first punk band, you're just showing your ignorance by naming them. What bands are pop-punk according to you?
