Tough one, kinda, but have to go PiL. I just prefer the musicians and how they weren't manufactured by that point... but I find both their styles equally enjoyable. I just feel this is what Lydon had his hand in more.

Is it normal that I find Metal Box a really good album to go to sleep to? Not that I dislike it - I love it, and enjoy it awake... I just find "Poptones" and "Albatross" extremely soothing.

Well Never mind the bolloks is what got me into punk (although I now detest the Sex Pistols) but I have more respect for PiL because they seem like an actual band to me, whereas the Pistols were more of a gimmic IMO.

i feel just listening to the song Public Image off First Issue once will sell anybody on PiL....such a great song...one of my all time favorite bass lines

i love the album Never mind The bollocks....it has its place....but i just feel the PiL offered so much more....plus its hard to compare a band with 1 studio album to one with to one with 8 or so that spanned over a decade....if the sex pistols had stayed together....whose to say what their style and sound may have morphed into

I like them both but it has got to be the Sex Pistols purely because of their songs and what they stood for and how they went about it. They were at the forefront of youth culture where as PIL (as far as I know?) just weren't.

I prefer the Pistols but I have only listened to one PIL album.
